Parent previously opened a M&S in this situation, they appear to still accept postal. They also have Skipton (and the app to view it, though the funds were sent to Skipton via cheque.)

For someone who perhaps won’t want to keep playing the transfer game but wants a fair rate, I’d suggest Family Building Society’s Market Tracker. Need to phone up to get a form though, as it isn’t downloadable from their website. It’s also in a rare position of consistently paying more than the equivalent ordinary savings account: https://www.familybuildingsociety.co.uk/savings/isas/product-detail/market-tracker-cash-isa-(2)
  • Thanks everyone. She's with Halifax, she went into the branch and they said they couldn't open an ISA for her. I've managed to open an online ISA for her with who i use but struggled opening an online Halifax account at the weekend as the the system was down for maintenance so i couldn't transfer the money over.  I'll try again shortly.
It's such a struggle for old people who don't use technology!
