I have been feeling a bit down lately (black dog) and thinking housework neverending (which is true) and doesn't make a difference anyway, why do I bother etc. Anyway, I was doing the kitchen the other day and wondering what drudgery needed doing next, when I realised that thanks to little & often and (almost) daily S&S, the kitchen was actually done to a decent standard! In around 20 mins or so!!
Thanks for 'listening'

In around 20 mins or so!!All we need is the motivation to do a little bit every day and eventually it all falls into place. The trick is to find the motivation that works for you, and this Flylady malarky does that for me - most of the time.Kitchen sorted, sink scrubbed, microwave swished out, gibble cleared, floor swept and washed, recylcing and compost bins emptied. The hob kettle got a very thorough scrub along with the hob and I ran all the various bits of the job that were detachable through the dishwasher.Tomato and cucumber plants given a lot of very overdue love.Shower room scrubbed, including th///e floor.Superking dusted and vacuumed, bed made up.Back landing/passage and stairs swept and vacuumed as appropriate.RoD vacuumed and cat flip-ups prepped for tonight, plus the toy for the cat that has to sleep in there because she faffs about all night. Neither of us slept through the night for the first two years after we adopted her because she flicks stuff to get attention all through the night, so she's shut into my office with treats in toys to keep her occupied.Belovéd picked up from the station.Doggie mistakes cleared up. Something must be bothering her because Belovéd's just found another and hero that he is, he's going to deal with it.That's enough for one day. I can do the rest that needs to be done tomorrow.Better is good enough.5

Hi all
I find that a little Flying every day makes a huge difference but I was out Monday night and last night I was so tired. I was home in good time tonight but have curled up with a cup of tea and so don't want to move. I will post this update and then make myself do an hour.
Good day at the paid stuff, tricky meeting with two very senior people from another organisation (both blokes) and I was so proud of myself. I spent ages reading the paperwork beforehand and was able to ask lots of questions and make my point very firmly. I tend to waffle when I am nervous but I made myself listen carefully and speak slowly which makes a huge difference. The senior manager from my company barely said anything.
Right, Flying to be done or I will have to do it all at the weekend.7 -

Morning all,
I hope you get to the bottom of what is bothering Wren, HB.
Eltee, don’t beat yourself up, you are an inspiration to the sloths amongst us. I still haven’t mastered little and often, after all 10+ years on here.
We had a lovely day out yesterday - walk with friends then a slow lunch in a pub. I spent the rest of the afternoon knitting to get over a particular bit that needed my counting abilities. Flying was truly on the back burner.
Today I am being cajoled into a visit to various plumber merchants with DH to look at replacement bathroom furniture for the downstairs toilet of doom. I am less than enthusiastic about the trip to big town, but need the building work kick started, so needs must.It has gone very dark, so I guess that rain is coming in again. Watch out, those in the east, as I will be sending it your way once the water butts are filled to the brim.
Sticks aplenty to all those lurking black dogs.6 -
Thanks Kaz and Fayolle. I'll give her a couple of days and if it continues it'll be a trip to the vet with a urine sample. I think Wren's problems are the change in routine, so I'm going to keep an even more eagle eye on her and put her out more often *sets timer* and the other thing that may be a trigger for her is that marathon Flying stints like yesterday might be too much for her. They're pretty much too much for me, so I'm in sympathy with her there. I think she'd be calmer with another dog around, but her propensity to chase one of the cats means we've had to nix that idea. I may see if there's a suitable dog up for adoption anywhere as a companion for her, an idea that I go hot and cold on on a regular basis.I've done all the finishing touches in the house so we're ready for today's arrival that were needed this morning and I now need to spend quite a bit of time doing some admin.Better is good enough.6

Thanks HB, YL et al for your kind words & for the sticks Fayolle, I shall awaken my inner-ninja and make good use of them.
Little & often does make a difference - I massively overslept this morning but everywhere is OK enough so I wouldn't be too bothered if we had unexpected visitors.
Today's list is just what I need to keep me honest..... once I finish the coffee OH doesn't know he's about to make ☕️"I started out with nothing

what a day…
friend carted off to hospital in severe pain…ended up on oramorph…think it’s gall stones so, as i knew it was the day she takes her mum (sprightly and 90 but would easily pass for 75) shopping so I deputised after our 90 minute session with th celebrant sorting the service. Carpet fitter was, therefore given a key. Have brought box of memorabilia from mums and done a first sweep…not sure what to do about/with the pile of postcards. Stamps cut from envelopes for charity. The tobacco tin the my great aunt had, which i always assumed was her dads, my Great Grandad with the unusual surname, has reappeared. This time the contents, bone dry flaked baccy and a piece of cigar, are going in the compost bin and i will bin the tin. Mum wore glasses as a toddler. They were tiny round ones. And i’ve found our immunisation cards from when we were babies!
I have no doubt there’ll be more but i think I’ll not rush to do the next box. I can’t believe the stuff i found…including the plans for the dolls house my dad built for Janice. In about 1970.
DS, DD and DD’s BF got the other sofa out ready for collection tomorrow, along with carpet. I helped. I unscrewed the feet.🤣Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
