And if you want to be part of the push to change things in future, it's very important that people like you tell the Government NOW that:
a) you have no faith in POPLA or the IAS and that there must be the SINGLE APPEALS SERVICE that the Parking (Code of Practice) Act 2019 *almost* promised. As long as it is fully independent and impartial (and only ONE appeals service, not two involved in a race to the bottom) that will give a real option to resolve disputed cases out of court.
b). THAT THE ENRICHMENT OF 'DEBT RECOVERY FEES' MUST BE COMPLETELY BANNED. DISPUTED CASES ARE NOT SOLVED BY DEMANDING MORE MONEY AND ENGINEERING A 'PAYMENT PLAN'.
c). Tell them about your experience and the POPLA outcome that means you will now ignore all the £170 demands and will be happy to use the only fair dispute resolution: court.
Responses are invited to the Consultation now:

DRP cannot do anything other than send silly letters/emails. Ignore them, but come back on this thread if you receive a Letter Of/Before Claim, or a County Court claim from the Northampton CNBC.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

We've provided guidance now.
See this thread: -We understand that you may need some pointers. It looks laborious, we get that.
It doesn't matter; no knowledge is needed except re your own experiences so you can call out a scam industry and you'll protect millions of motorists and help change the law.
I've written some guidance on that thread. I have covered almost every question, providing ideas if you agree with our stance on things like DRFs, which we say must be banned.
Ordinary people like you are falling victim to this scam 15 million times per annum. Motorists need your voice added please.
CLOSES ON FRIDAY. Just days to go.

fisherjim said:Please note "defense" is American you mean defence. As is it equally unnecessary of others above, to point out the difference between defence & complaint/appeal. This forum isn’t a court!
But agree with the actual advice: sit tight & try not to worry. Unless you get a real legal letter (eg Letter before Claim - not just any old ‘frightener’ from their legal firm) - there’s nothing you need to do. Just check the letters that arrive & then file them away.Ignore all the debt collection ones (increasingly alarming, but toothless) & only communicate with them to notify of any change your address.Judging by all the impressive effort you’ve put in so far, you seem like the sort of person who might feel better actually doing something? Is so, you could try appealing to either of the landowners. Assuming you did actually buy something in McDonald’s & can prove it - you might be lucky. They won’t want to annoy their customers so they might just tell the parking operator to cancel the charge. I once spent 4hrs in Lidl (sad, I know!) - but could prove I was there throughout so got the charge cancelled. But McDonald’s may not be so amenable - so don’t hold your breath!Good luck!0
