Am i obligated to give Housing Benefit my adult childrens income and NI details

I am receiving high rate PIP for both care and mobility and as a result of this i receive no deductions on my HB even though my two adult children live with me. My rent went up in April and since then i have received different letters asking for different information and they are now asking for proof of their income and their NI numbers, even though no matter what their earnings are this is not taken into account because i receive high rate disability and no deductions will made and so i cannot see why this info is needed. . Do i have to provide this information by law as it is their private info and nothing to do with me
Any advice or where to go for advice is appreciated

Let's Be Careful Out There1 -
I would check your local authority's website and see if they have a page similar to this one:
https://www.manchester.gov.uk/info/500180/housing_benefit/4285/non-dependants_adults_who_live_with_you_may_affect_your_housing_benefit_and_council_tax_support/3
Given your current circumstances, I can see no reason why they need this information, and if they have a page on their website similar to the above, I would be quoting that.3 -
The information may have been requested in error, but don't just ignore the request as that will probably result in HB being suspended for failing to provide requested information. Call the council to clarify the situation.4

When my dad moved in with me, we had to provide details of his income and savings, even though there wouldn't be a ndd. They said they couldn't get to the ndd of the claim intil info for all residents was provided. A case of computer says no3

this happened to us a few years ago and i just wrote to them pointing out that as my wife was in receipt of PIP care no ND deductions apply. They wrote back to confirm the info was not needed.2

Sorry to hear that. All the more reason to provide what they have requested, even if you do think that it's irrelevant.0 -

UC need to get their act together and if it were me i would be getting my MP involved.1 -
Some Councils round here still use a generic Housing Benefit AND Council Tax Reduction claim form - so they could require it for CT but are gathering it rather clumsily?Similarly, even though you can do the application[s] online now, if you request a paper form or download a form to print and fill in, it’s again an old HB & CTR form.1
