It's now an accepted fact that the "general public" don't understand percentages or fractions, even the simplest ones.

That's the reason you hear things like "one in two people will get cancer in their lifetime".  The general public aren't now expected to understand 50% or half.
75% of people still understand percentages, 40% don't.
Does that allow for the people who put in 115% effort?
I generally aim to give things 50-60% effort. That way I can put on an occasional surge to 75% effort and surprise everyone :D

  • So finally Octopus have come back to me reagarding my query and as mentiond by a few people on this thread it relates to the rounding of their numbers. They admit that they are not transparent on the billing and appreciate why it is questionable. I just wish they showed the real values in their billing for all to see then it makes clearer for the customer. anyway. Case closed. Apologies for not believing. I wasn't trying to be awkward.I just wanted to get to the bottom of the issue and I felt quite aggrieved by the fact that we are paying over the odds for our energy in teh first instance I wasn't prepared to let them get away with charging us a half panny more.
