(Not live yet but soon will be)
You could be eligible for up to £70 from the Mastercard settlement - even if you never used the provider
Millions of Britons could receive up to £70 each following the approval of a £200m settlement against Mastercard.
Consumers will soon be able to receive a chunk of the payout, regardless of whether they ever held a Mastercard, following final approval from the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
You are automatically a member of the class action if you:
- lived in the UK (for at least a continuous period of three months) between 22 May 1992 and 21 June 2008;
- were aged 16 or over during this time;
- bought goods and services (for a non-business purpose) from businesses selling in the UK, irrespective of the means of payment used;
- and were living in the UK on 6 September 2016.
Walter Merricks, the former financial ombudsman, launched his claim after he alleged 46 million shoppers in Britain were ripped off after fees were wrongly levied on transactions made over 15 years between 1992 and 2008.
The fees were paid by retailers accepting Mastercard payments, rather than the consumers themselves. But Merricks claimed shoppers had lost out as retailers passed on these fees in the form of higher prices.

Law Gazette has a more informative write up, if 5% of eligible claimants claim it would be £45 per person, if its more people then each gets less, if its less people each get more but there is a cap of £70pp2 -
Thanks for that well @born_again won't be claiming so.that's a bit more for those that do claim !0

Hopefully the above link is a proper repayment link not some chancer ambulance chaser trying to setup their own claim
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

No.it is genuine - Mastercard were found to have overcharged and have been required to repay
£45-£70 is not much but hey it's a free portion if fish and chips which is better than nothing.0 -

Always claim direct. Bit of work never hurt anyone when it comes to getting money back.
Sadly too many are more than happy to pay the leeches to do the work & lose out 🤣Life in the slow lane1 -
I use to work for Mastercard and this case has been running a very long time. Merricks is an ambulance chaser. They have decided with the changes in UK legal system allow US 'class actions' to chance their arm over here. No ideal of the real merits of the case but basically. I guess after 9 year the case has ground down so much that it must have been easier to settle.
I had a feeling though you needed to have paid for something from a business that accepted Mastercard credit cards during the period the case covered.
