And.... another vote for Denby Greenwich.  I also have a set of Imperial Blue craftsman mugs, which I bought when I was single (over 30 years ago!) and which are still going strong.

Wow, thanks for all these helpful replies. Must admit I love the look of these Imperial Blue Denby plates. Decision made, I'm getting some.

I see you've decided but anyways - Denby (ours is Baroque). Our set of 12 of most things is still going strong after 28 years, and it always get dishwashered after each use. Think in that time we've only lost 1 sideplate to breakage.

Denby Ode here in everyday use, originally was a wedding present of my parents in law in the 60s. We pick up bits in car boots or antique shops if we see them so have masses. Dishwasher safe and really difficult to chip

I have never heard of crockery that won’t last a lifetime, so I’m pretty confused by this question. :)

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I think it’s worth spending a little extra on quality products that are built to last. i.e., perhaps due to the craftsmanship, patterns are less likely to fade, and the plates may not chip or break as easily as others. Also, having something aesthetically beautiful as an everyday object can add joy in a small way. I ended up visiting Denby Pottery Village based on a suggestion by a poster on this board, and bought a set of plates in Imperial Blue. I was tempted by the seconds, but in the end, it worked out cheaper to buy a new set as they had 30% off.

When I changed all my crockery I looked at sites that supply the trade.

I bought from here https://www.cateringcentre.co.uk/product-category/crockery/  but there will others such as

    https://www.nisbets.co.uk/tableware-and-bar-supplies/crockery/_/a33-2

I am very pleased with the quality and it was nowhere near the expense of the usual retail ranges.

I use Imperial Blue Denby every day. It’s still going strong after 25 years.
Had mine around 20 years, absolutely no sign of wear and despite installing a slate floor in my kitchen a decade or so back, still no breakages.  Reckon they'll outlast me!

We've had Denby James Martin everyday plates and bowls for nine years, and they have happily survived dishwashing in all that time and don't look old or battered.  We actually bought more recently just to extend what we have to cover things like Christmas where we have guests round.  You can't tell the difference between the old and new, aside a small change with the cereal bowl size.

Yes our Denby is not lasting as long as others on this site ,mind bouncing them off the tiled floor in the kitchen does not help ,also ours are not dishwasher safe but she said she still loves me and lets me carry on at the sink  :)
