    Hi,
Sorry I don't think you are understanding, I'm not saying for fact anything regarding fire safety has to be obtained, I am telling you what we are asking for ourselves. As the person said above they had a way leave agreement so they will be covered with this agreement. We have nothing. This is why we want all documents. You will be fine if they get agreement to come so I'm not sure why you are so hung up on this? If no companies come and do unauthorized work then you won't need to chase for paperwork.
How am I to know what our insurance would need in the event of a fire? I don't as we have never had a fire so I am trying to cover our back with any fire information on the fibre and installation materials themselves.

your attitude seemed to me to be one of ‘nothing to see here , perfectly standard installation, simply move on’ , which would be a ludicrous position to take .
Thankfully I didn’t take that position whatsoever and you just misread my posts.

The OP just said they have no idea what, if anything, their insurers require in terms of documentation. The OP is “seeking general documents such as certificate of the fibre they use and any fire related documentation regarding the materials used and fire warranties” which I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t get even if the work had been authorised.

But apparently if the work had been authorised they wouldn’t have needed this documentation anyway because a wayleave would be enough.  But then the head of the management company would ask CF for the documentation for the fire Marshall.  All very confusing!

Anyway, the situation is pretty much as I expected and I have the answers I needed to pass on to my relative.  Thank you again to Cloth_of_Gold for the only really useful response 👍

As stated getting hung up on  ‘fire stopping’ surely misses the point , City Fibre had no right to install anything at all, they never sought permission , it doesn’t matter if what they installed is not going to increase the risk of fire and is in compliance with any rules regarding fire safety, it should be there , period , and the OP having the foresight to suspect an insurance company, could use something not declared as a reason to refuse a claim seems perfectly reasonable , chances are it would be fine and the insurance company won’t be concerned , but why should the OP even take the risk it won’t be OK , especially as they never asked for this cabling to be fitted .

The useful responses ideally are for the OP not you , and in this case what you consider a useful response, isn’t useful at all to the OP  , in fact it’s pretty irrelevant , perhaps you should consider starting starting your own thread in the future .

I’m not sure where in the forum rules it says threads can’t be useful to others?  But thanks for your concern anyway.

Thank you for this. City fibre have responded and are gaining all fire safety information on the install and equipment from the contractors for our own records and investigating why no permission was gained and am passing over invoice information for the damage to our fire alarm system.
