If a person is off work long term because of sickness and they are getting SSP along with UC can they resign without being sanctioned. They are in the LCWRA group  with UC.

There is no prospect of them returning to the job they had but they ae still having to obtain doctors notes and have regular meetings with the company which is not helping their stress levels at an already difficult time.

If they just resign from the company will they have the UC stopped?

If the person is getting 'Fit Notes' (medical certificates) from their doctor they will not be sanctioned for resigning their job.  At least that's my understanding.

LCWRA is a non-sanctionable work group so no, they will not be penalised if they give their job up.

The only thing that might happen is UC reviews your circumstances to make sure you are receiving the correct help. You could ask your GP for an extended certificate  6 months or more because the employer is being unreasonable while you're convalescing.

Eventually the employer will terminate your employment.

Do they get a workplace pension?
If they do then they need to stick it out as long as possible.
We have had people off sick for years. Company won't sack them, does not look good & as person is getting pension paid, there is no incentive to resign.

As above get GP to give as long as possible sick note.
