But given several posts here of people being overbilled you've got to worry how systemic the problem is.

And how many would just accept that equation exactly as is to justify their billing, without doing the maths and over pay.

On Ofgem's website, they have a letter that they sent to energy suppliers about this very problem. They instructed them to look for any customers affected and to refund them. They also required the suppliers to ensure that it doesn't happen again. That letter was from 2016 and, as you know, it's still happening.

I've pointed this out to Ofgem but they're not interested. 

I think you're right; I get the feeling that this is happening on a big scale. The many cases discussed in this forum might only be the tip of the iceberg.
