How does the off-peak / peak price capping work if I travel partly at peak times but mostly off-peak?
Say I travel once at a peak time (£1.50) and several times off peak (ie. would have got the £3.10 cap), will I be charged £3.10 + £1.50 = £4.60, or because I've travelled on a peak train will it only cap at £6.30?
Good question buddy, also the answer I need! anyone know?:cool:0 -
Travelling off-peak only you will be charged no more than the off-peak cap. If you travel during the peak as well you will be charged the cost of each single journey during the peak until the off-peak cap + the cost of single peak journeys reaches the peak cap.Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -
You can now have your railcard "attached" to your oyster card so that you save 34% on off peak daily price capping only. Note that you don't save on single journeys, the discount is applied once you reach the daily price cap.

I cannot access the url given in this message (I cannot include it in this message as I am informed as a new user I am not allowed to ) - you know the famous Error 404????? Any ideas? I am going to visit my daughter in London and have an Oyster card and would like to clarify all this before going.0 -
The railcard/oyster marriage has been in operation for some time now. You cannot do it oline if you have a PAYG Oyster card. You have to register your Oyster card and fill in a form with both card numbers at any London main line or underground station.0

Is this discount still going on?
Its displayed on the TfL website's 2011 fares page: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/17538.aspx#railcard
But when I go to tube ticket offices they claim I am talking complete nonsense and no such discount exists and refuse to even check
I've fired off an email to TfL because this is getting silly offering a discount that is impossible to obtain.0 -

Why not print that page you have linked to and show it to the ticket office?
A pertinent quote from your linked to page...To get the discounted Oyster fares you need to add your Railcard details to your Oyster card. You can do this at all Tube, London Overground and some National Rail ticket offices.0 -

What station are you going to? I find the staff in the suburbs aren't exactly helpful. It may be better going to a central london Tube station, Kings Cross and Waterloo tend to be helpful.0 -
Hi guys - the links don't seem to work now, but I don't think the offer's over - does anyone know how I can find it online?0

Try http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14414.aspx - hit the railcard tab
A change (this year I think) is that you can now get a discount on off peak single fares - not just the daily cap.0 -

To be fair though you shouldnt really go to City centre stations at all - These things take a while and this causes massive queues forming.."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0
