Also rural and no choice here - there used to be a few, although all BT under a different name and maybe John Lewis who used BT - but just checked again and now only BT is left.
How do you check what is available?
When I use Uswitch or gocompare it gives me a list of providers, its only after I click through it says they can't supply the property. So I literally have to check each one manually.
With BT as the current supplier both Uswitch and Confused came up with "We don't have any broadband deals for you currently."

Not every provider is prepared to pay switching services like Uswitch and Confused the commission they require to ‘feature’ those ISP , so using these sites isn’t the entirety of the market , they just show the ones that pay them to be there ….and although it’s understandable that someone won’t give their postcode on a public forum (I certainly wouldn’t ) anyone claiming ‘I  can only get BT’ has no way to prove this is true , especially if the ‘proof’  of having no alternative is based on what comparison sites show

OP if you put your mum's details into Andrews & Arnold's website, do they offer you service?
They're not cheap and they don't generally appear on comparison websites, but they do have a pretty good reputation.
