Yes, you need to put in a decent defence, so use the template (but without admitting any liability) and bluff at mediation that you're happy to go to hearing. Otherwise you'll end up settling at £200 instead of £60-£100.
I’m taking responsibility of the situation and I’m going to pay the full amount asked, I don’t really have a leg to stand on regarding a defence..

Please can you advise the best way to pay and have this case closed? Thank you
The best way is exactly what we already said. Simply put in a full defence (use the template, it's there for you) then settle at Mediation which could be for as little as £60.
This is definitely the better option of the 2 I suggested,  so we don't know why you would ignore the wise advice and pay in full  ?  Doesn't make sense,  far better to negotiate at the mediation stage
Thank you, I feel that I don’t have a defence as my partner didn’t pay AT ALL, how can I possibly write a defence for this? This is my reasoning for wanting to pay in full to resolve this matter

We are not asking you to write a whole defence based on anothers actions,  or inactions

We are asking you to use the parking eye template defence,  with a few tweaks   ( not to defend your partners actions or inactions   ) , but to defend yourself as an innocent keeper who wasn't involved

Once submitted to the CNBC in Northampton,  there will come a time in the near future where you have to be on a mediation phone call with a 3rd party court appointed mediator , discussing a monetary settlement

We are then asking you to be reasonable,  wanting to settle the matter and to negotiate a mutually agreeable settlement of the case, with a mutually acceptable figure to both sides,  starting at £10 and gradually climbing until the claimant accepts

We are not asking you to argue about the perceived indefensible issue of the incident day by another party

Nobody said to 'write a defence'.

We clearly said: COPY our defence.

It's already written for you and gets you to Mediation stage. No risk. Saves you lots of money.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

What is the exact contract your partner entered into? How do you know whether you owe them money under a contract when you haven't seen it?

Submit the standard template and email them for a copy of the contract.
