I forgot about my Betfair account! Although after a couple of losses recently there's not as much in there as I'd like. Thanks for reminding me.:T

I have no problem with you calling me Daft (I chose it as my username afterall). I use it on a number of sites and I must admit it generally gets shortened to DP probably by others who feel the same as you. I'm happy either way - I've been called a lot worse than Daft in my time:rotfl:

Im soooo annoyed with the mortgage company:mad: We took out a mortgage in August 2007 on a 2 year fixed rate - in September we upped our direct debit an extra £75.00 (from £575 to £650). Got a letter from mortgage company last week to say rate had gone down and normal mortgage payment was going down to £568.39:T ) Found out today that they did not take the £650 but only took £568.39:mad:) We have the money to pay the extra but this now means sending a cheque and paying for a stamp:rolleyes:

sorry for ranting but this has really annoyed me - *runs off to post the cheque*

i did put some money onto the visa for xmas purely because it is my cash back visa i had the money but thought no i'll use the visa that way i'll get cash back ;) ...now comes time to pay it and i'm thinking hhhmmmm the money i am putting towards this visa i couldve been putting towards my mortgage:eek: it is a vicious circle...

I so know what you mean! We have put everything on a Capital One card as it was the 4% period. I THINK I have transferred enough into a savings account to cover what we have spent but it will be a scary bill when it comes in.

As of Feb, our mortgage won't be so offset (blinking tax man) and we are planning to put all spending on the card so that wages can stay offsetting as long as poss. This should work in theory, but I just hope we can be really, really disciplined or it may not turn out that way!

just found out i got accepted for a mortgage today, £30000 on a shared ownership property... so the first thing i've done after work is start looking on here for ways to pay it off quicker :rotfl:what a geek lol, i am allowed to overpay by 3000 a year so that's going to be my aim whilst also saving towards paying the while lot off in three years.

    Good luck everyone :)

    I'm confused - Sorry!

If you took out a 2 yr fixed rated in 2007, are your payments not fixed until 2009? How did you payments go down? (Not fair! I want my payments to go down!)

welcome to all the new joiners

bellsbells hold on in there we are now half way through January !!!

I have been fortunate enough to reach my target for this month although had a big blow out at boots today at the 75% off sale  though i know that in the long run it will be a big money saving exercise as we now have virtually all our presents for the year , including mothers day etc (feel soooo organised!!) so although there has been a spend which half of me is thinking i could have put on the mortgage the other MSE part of me is saying that it was a success as will save me money in the long term!!!
