  • Hi all

I have been lurking on the site for a long time, and thought its time to post!
I'm becoming a MFW, and after reading all your interesting posts found it very motivating!

Last year I was 9k away from being mortgage free, sadly discovered the wife was having an affair,so had to remortgage! Anyways onwards and upwards!

My new mortgage is £77500 no over payments yet, but have started a "mortgage pig" a jar to stick my loose change in! (every little helps)

Hi everyone, just popped in to update my signature. I made my £500 overpayment for August on Friday, but nearly had a heart attack when I discovered that the girl at the till in the BS had credited my mortgage OP cheque to my cash ISA (I gave her the book first to update the balance as I had done some online transfers). She corrected the error but I was worried that it would count as a payment towards my £3600 allowance for the year even though it came straight out. However, I phoned HQ afterwards and they assured me it will be ok (not that I will definitely have £3600 to put in - but I didn't want the opportunity taken away!). Anyway, balances are updated in my signature below. My normal payment goes out on 2nd of the month so it will come down again then. Good luck everyone - hope you are still all making progress how ever slight - every bit helps!

  • Just popping in to declare my august total of my standard £280 making a total of £2115 for the year. I've been reading all your posts and am so envious though, if I make my overall target of £3500 (which frankly is looking a bit shaky) it amounts to 1.5% of our mortgage :( Still I guess this time 2 years ago I was spending that money on rubbish so every little helps as they say.

I can't seem to get a grip on my money at the minute, there's way too much month for too little money. And I'm off on hols next month (to the eurozone) which means a lot of spending...although hopefully will keep the regular payment up...

    And welcome to the newbies...

Keep battling on and you will succeed, you are obviously managing action-smiley-033.gif. In the last 3 years at Uni I got a working week's break away but I just spent 10 MS days away at my OH's and I needed the break to get refreshed.

Ditto Welcome to the newbies beerchug.gif good move guys.

Update - still not exchanged on our sale angry-smiley-030.gif so a tad frustrated. One mortgage in hand waiting to be used and rabidly waiting to get house-moved and cracking on with the grand MF plan . :EasterBun

Note to self I Must try to have more patience angel-smiley-002.gif

  • Hi guys, well I'm popping by to declare my total for September, early I know but I'm heading on hols and figured if I didn't get the money gone it would be eaten up and realistically I'm not going to go over my 'normal' payment. So it's another £280 in, making a total of £2395 for the year. So I'm almost at my initial target of £2500 although in my mind I would love to make it to £3500 this year.

I have a feeling next month might be tough though - I'll have to see if I can make any overpayments then, although DH is finally due to be paid for three jobs he's been working on (self employed) which means he might be able to put something in the pot as well :)

Great to see all the totals above bellsbells, well done!

Well it's official, this months standing order has dropped my mortgage below £50,000:j and the over payments that i am now paying are paying off all of my mortgage interest so my actual mortgage payment is coming straight off of my mortgage:D a big thanks to bells and the rest of you guys for giving me the motivation to do it. I got a pay rise this month also but me and the o/h decided to put the £50 extra towards savings as we still are not using the whole of our tax free allowance, but at least we're not squandering it on junk like we would have done last year! well I'm off on holiday next week but there's already £80 in my mortgage pig which will be banked before we go so that will hopefully bring this months total o/p to £280/300 if we put any more in (including standing order of course). hope you also have a nice get away Belfast girl:beer:.
I am now debt free! Whoop whoop! :money::beer:
