I've managed to confuse myself! My mortgage payment is taken on the 16th of the month but the interest total isn't added until a few days after the 1st of the next month. So my mortgage total is now £91644 but I don't know if this is an August or September total update!
Well done everybody. Keep up the good work!

I think this depends on your mortgage provider. With Nationwide, the interest is updated on my account daily- I think2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

Hi all,
Tonight I will be paying my mum back a thousand pounds of the money I owe her, I have a couple of things to Ebay which should give me nearly another 500 so must list those soon!
I also got a 5 pound Play voucher from Quidco so I am going to treat myself to something for once! Hopefully I will actually manage this and not get a dvd for someones present!Debt Free - done

Hahaha I thought it was an OP calculator. I thought oh good another one for me to play with. I have one of those calculator things from Barclays. It's really quick and easybut a pain that I always have to have it to hand.

Hi, Topov reporting in!
I've managed to scrape together some old savings plans, bits of change from down the side of the sofa, etc. and have paid £1000 of our mortgage.
We are really pleased to have made such a large overpayment and I dont think we'll be doing another one quite that large again! It'd be nice though.
Bells Bells, could you please update my details on the front page? Thanks BB and to everyone else for contributing to this support group - it's a real inspiration. I don't post much but I lurk a lot and I'm really enjoying getting my finances in shape.0 -

Welcome Maslowe! :hello:
If you send a pm to Bellsbells she will add you to the list on the first page. Do you have a target figure in mind?
It feels so good making overpayments, I only wish I could do it every day!:p
I have just phoned my bank (Co-op) to make another overpayment of £1000, and I was surprised to hear them say that even though the payment won't reach the mortgage account for a few days, they re-calculate the interest from the day I phone up! :T I know a few days' interest won't make all that much difference, but it's still nice to hear!
I have also increased my monthly direct debit to £450 (was £412.21), so that's an easy £38 a month that I'll be overpaying without thinking about it.
Have spent ages fiddling with my various spreadsheets, and according to my (very rough) calculations, those two actions have knocked another 9 months off the mortgage. Loving it!!MFiT-T5 #52 - aiming to clear mortgage completelyJanuary 2019: £19620 ~ November 2021: £0.00!0
