    Hi BB

Sorry, whilst I saw the 'format', it obviously didn't register! :o Include me as per the rest of the gang please.

Please let me know if I am correct in thinking I should pm you monthly (set date?) with my monthly update.

    Thank you! :)

just pm me whenever you have made your payment for the month lunar. It also realy helps if you can give me the running total for the year as well as the amount overpaid that month

    bb

Oh now I get it. This is the finale of my 'off day' today. Our beloved cat woke me up at 4am after a very late night and ever since I got up for the day, I have been somewhat slow. :D I played tennis this morning and had to laugh at my efforts, numerous times! Thanks for explaining. :)

I have introduced numbers on the first post just as a way of keeping track of how big a group we are getting! However they are purely there for admin:D So yes I suppose you do have a number but don't worry you are still a free man/woman!

wow it's astounding how much reading you have to catch up on after your internet goes down for a week!!! welcome to all the newbies and hi to all the oldies..... not that i'm implying in any way that any of you are actually old:o . i think i'm going to ask the halifax for a mortgage statement as i put an overpayment for june in during the middle of the month and it didn't reflect in the figures.....i'm slightly worried that all my overpayments might be going astray as in my yearly statement the time of paying off the mortgage had not actually reduced....i will update you all later. oh i also now have to find £138 a month for a new car but seeing as my old car was/is costing my £150 a month on average for repairs i think i might be able to add a bit more to the overpeyments:D
I am now debt free! Whoop whoop! :money::beer:

I found this thread a while ago and have lurked a little bit, but want to join the 'challenge'. I'm not sure about being "mortage free", so I'll start with a smaller goal and see where we are after 1 year.

    Data:
    Mortgage : 238k
OP year to date : 1k (with another 1k ready to go soon, hopefully)
Goal : Reduce to less than 200k in 3 years, without increasing any other net debt

Just to make the challenge even tougher, my wife has just stopped work due to the arrival of our new little twinnies (several months early)... which already chops several thousand off my target for this year :-( [not to mention increasing our outgoings early].

    Good luck with any auctions!

Hi, I'd like to join in on this challenge if I may. My aim is to pay off aat least an extra £50 per month between now and Christmas. I don't have a high mortgage compared to some who are just starting out on the property ladder, but neither do I have a particularly high wage either so after haunting the DFW wannabee forum for weeks, I have made a few tweaks in my budget and managed to free up £50 by downgrading my internet/tv package, cashing in a rubbish savings policy and cancelling a few little bits and bobs. My mortgage is due to run until Feb 2024 but I'd love it to end in June 2020 in time for my 60th birthday. Gosh seeing that written down makes me feel old  It's only 12 years!

I made my first overpayment today. My building society don't offer an online facility but as I work nearby I can pop in any lunch time and hand over cash. I was given the option of having just a receipt or a payment card. I chose the payment card as I thought this would give me an incentive when I saw it filling up. I kept the card on my desk all afternoon just to keep looking at it saddo that I am. :rotfl:

    Welcome galadriel,

Well done on freeing up the cash to make overpayments. Hope you realise that overpaying is very addictive and before you know it you will be trying to raise extra cash to pay off a little extra!

    Good luck with your target.

Just wanted to say Hi and welcome to the boards

I also have twins - my girls are now 16 months old - I went back to work when they were 6 months old in order to get some rest:rotfl: you get a lunchbreak at work:j

I found as a twin parent that in the early months (OK first year) I craved sleep the way a junkie craves heroin - and my DH put in (and still puts in) over half the work - haven't changed a poo nappy in days:D

We also have a mega mortgage (i.e over £200K) but having cashed in everything we've managed to get over 20% down already

    Good luck

    Jo
