    Mortgage-free Glee!
    Evening all,

Just to report in that my initial overpayment for July will be £120 - not as much as I had hoped, but things are tight at the moment, so trying to keep it realistic!

I will still be on course for the December target of £2000 in overpayments.

Hope everyone else is well and feeling optomistic!

    PO xx

hi lunar and welcome to the gang:T

I could put your target down in the way that most of us do, ie counting up the amount we have overpaid or if you prefer I can do it how you have written in your post - counting down how much of your mortgage is paid off.
Just let me know what you would prefer!

    Hi BB

Sorry, whilst I saw the 'format', it obviously didn't register! :o Include me as per the rest of the gang please.

Please let me know if I am correct in thinking I should pm you monthly (set date?) with my monthly update.

    Thank you! :)

No numbers on this thread we are all equally trying to achieve our targets the best way we can and it has been going too long now I think to start thinking about numbers.

Bellsbells of course, is number one in all our eyes, she does all the work to keep things updated for which we are all grateful :kisses:

    Hi Torbrex,

I'm new to the thread and haven't read all the posts. I wondered if your message is directed at me requesting that I do not post any numbers as per a 'thread etiquette' or if you were referring to your own journey and lack of emphasis on numbers? :) Sorry, bit confused as I think you were referring to my post, yet obviously this is a numbers challenge hence I wanted to ask. Thanks for the clarification.

Yes BB is obviously doing a great job at keeping it all going. And good luck to you and everyone with their own goals.

Hi LE sorry for the confusion, my post really only meant to say that we do not have member numbers.

We all regularly update others of how we are getting on and various targets met (or missed) so our 'numbers' are there for all to see. Big or small mortgages actually take a back seat to the target for the year.
We each post our own little tips on how we are going about gaining that little bit extra and share in the delight of others successes.

And of course we can all take pleasure in the big numbers as in post #981.

Oh now I get it. This is the finale of my 'off day' today. Our beloved cat woke me up at 4am after a very late night and ever since I got up for the day, I have been somewhat slow. :D I played tennis this morning and had to laugh at my efforts, numerous times! Thanks for explaining. :)

Wow Lunar Eclipse, that is an impressive indent into your mortgage. Hope you start up your diary soon!

BB if you read this could you change my target please? I'm looking to pay off £16,433.79 this year and shall update you in a few days when the overpayment has been applied. Thanks.

A very precise target! :) Will it take your balance to a round number, or are you not obsessed and sadly affected by round numbers like me? :D

I'll try and get round to the diary soon.

Ohhhh dear, I have been trying really hard to keep my obsessive tendencies with regards to the mortgage hidden but you have found me out!

I may as well come clean now...my competitive nature can also be a problem - "He's paid off how much? Right I shall pay off more than him, even if we won't eat for a week." No, I'm fibbing...we do eat but it means I have to find an overpayment from somewhere!

    Looking forward to your diary!

Yes very sad...I shall go and get some help soon.

Ok have finally got an up to date figure..mortgage is now £92,644.64 (and will have to pay off that 64p!) I think that if I do not make any other overpayments this year, I shall hit my £90k target.

I decided to make a £4k overpayment this month (money raised through the Olympic Challenges) as the way I was doing it before (pay the interest charged amount) was a bit nerve wracking as I wouldn't know what the amount was until I received my monthly statement. This meant a couple of months of being a bit short but going ahead with the payment anyway - just couldn't not do it!

    Anyway, well done to everybody!

I just found out after going through my stuff that I'm allowed to pay £499 per month on top of regular payments before they charge. Sooooo can't wait to start my new job in September and start over paying!!!!

Hmmm....September money will go on paying off stuff we run up over summer though while I'm working! I'm soooo excited!

I will pay off LOTS next year if I have my way.
