Can we get a refund

My wife and son are flying to South America via Miami with American airlines.
Their flight home was due to leave at 14.30 but now it is going to be 00.30.
This is a big change - can they get a refund?
I have contacted the agency but no reply yet.
To add insult to injury we could have bought flights at that time for less but my wife didn't want to go then.

This MSE article will help you:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/flight-changes/
Also AA website conditions of carriage:
https://www.aa.com/i18n/customer-service/support/conditions-of-carriage.jsp
"If we or our airline partner cancels your flight or your departure or arrival is delayed for 3 or more hours (domestic) / 4 or more hours (international), our sole obligation is to refund the unused ticket value and any optional fees according to our involuntary refunds policy, subject to our policy for rebooking your delayed / canceled flight."
Looks like as it is over a 4 hour delay, you should be able to get a refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

If the former, then you're at the mercy of the airline's Ts & Cs, unless you can find any regulations that cover the flights - the majority of the discussion on these boards is about the UK/EU regulations, which don't apply here. Or if it's a proper travel agency, as opposed to a cheap 'bucket shop', then they may be in a position to add some value?0 -
