Heathrow Fire - Loss of earnings

Any advice please for wages deducted.
I was left in India for 4 days after Heathrow fire. My employer has deducted from my salary and neither the fligh company - Virgin or insurance say they can compensate. I cannot afford to lose this money and have no leave left to use. Any suggestions wise people?
Also my direct flight, Delhi- Heathrow, was replaced with a stopover in Mubai of 5 hours, is there anything I can do to be compensated? I had to take an additional day off as sat in Mumbai airport from midnight until 5am!! I would be very grateful for any advice, Thank you 🤞🙏

You are out of options.1

This is just one of the inherent risks when travelling abroad. No ones fault. Why emergency savings pots are always recommended.1

Which airline were you flying with? If it wasn't a UK/EU one then you'll be reliant on anything within the airline's terms of carriage or any Indian legislation offering consumer rights in this area, although even then it may be that no compensation would be due for issues deemed beyond the airline's control.happyapples said:Also my direct flight, Delhi- Heathrow, was replaced with a stopover in Mubai of 5 hours, is there anything I can do to be compensated?1 -
Flying with Virgin, I guess I expected better as they apparently pride themselves on delivering great customer service.eskbanker said:

Oops, sorry, I now see that you did mention that earlier - the good news is that it brings the flight into the scope of the UK261 flight delay/cancellation regulations, but as above these are clear that there is no compensation entitlement when delays are caused by extraordinary circumstances beyond the airline's control.happyapples said:

The Heathrow closure would undoubtedly have fallen into that category, but not indefinitely - have Virgin cited extraordinary circumstances for a significant delay to your travel the week after the Heathrow disruption?
Note that these regulations offer fixed tariff compensation according to flight distance though, which would be expected to cover inconvenience, etc, so there'd be no separate claim for loss of earnings as such.0 -
This is just something that can unfortunately happen and Virgin are not responsible for loss of earnings because of the fire at Heathrow which was out of their control.happyapples said:Any advice please for wages deducted.
