- If there's little in the way of deposit deductions due to damage or cleaning at the end of the tenancy, use the the deposit to partially cover the rent arrears and let the remaining arrears slide.
- Similar to above but instead of letting a deficit slide send the tenant a letter before action and then file a Money Claim Online. It might not be worth the hassle though.
Also, how much does the money claim cost?
A more fundamental issue is that the landlord may not know the defendant's new address.0 -

Are both tenants leaving or is the second tenant taking on the whole house?
If they have separate contracts and tenant 2 has paid his money to tenant 1 who has not passed it on to the landlord that's THEFT and tenant 2 should involve the police1 -

Hopefully he can atleast get his small deposit back. It won’t cover the rent but it’s better than nothing.0 -

The LL should make it very clear to Tenant 2, so all future rent payments are made directly to the LL. However tenant 2 has already paid that last month's rent, so its up to the LL to chase it from Tenant 1.
If it was a joint tenancy then the LL would have more rights.0 -
