Hi,
I just dropped my "dumb" mobile phone down the toilet and now it doesnt work.
I need another phone immediately.
Can i just go to an EE shop, buy a new phone, and put the sim card into it and its job done?

Its not a smartphone, just a dumbphone and i only want another dumbphone.

Yes, or anywhere else that sells them, eg Argos

Yes, just hope the SIM hasn't been damaged.

Thanks, does it have to  have  the same size of sim card?
The dead phone is an alcatel 2057D.. i think it takes a "micro SIM"?

We bought a Nokia 105 4g from Argos for £13.50. The websites said there was no charger included and had to be bought with £10 top up. We paid the £13.50 and when we got it there was a charger in the box and a Vodaphone card which I assumed was the £10 top up. We did not use it as we had our own sim card.

Any independent mobile phone shop will be able to sell you an adapter that will allow your SIM to fit whichever phone you end up getting.

Only if the new slot is bigger, which is highly unlikely these days!

@faringdon your micro SIM may have a pull off part to convert to nano which pretty much all phones use now, otherwise you'll need a new SIM.

I believe a cutting tool is available to shrink the size of a SIM card if needed.

Sorry its actually a Nano SIM (Alcatel 2057D). So do i have to order a new SIM from EE or would i just go into an EE shop and ask them to change my Nano SIM to a micro SIM? (i have an account with EE) ...thats assuming that whichever phone i buy has a micro SIM.
Also, do you know if i shoudl get a 2G phone or a 4G phone?

I need it to be a "dumb" phone and not a smart phone.

Supposing i do buy say a £13 dumbphone from argos which needs to be bought with £10 airtime...do you think i could just remove the SIM from that and put my EE sim card in it?...or would it be locked to vodafone?....i am with EE. (i appreciate that if its locked to vodafone then they wont unock it.....they will say they will but just wont, this happened to me before)

New phones are no longer locked to a particular network, regardless of where it's bought.

Nano SIM is the smallest and the most commonly used size for (all?) new phones.

EDIT : The Argos £13.50 phone may be described as "Vodafone" but there seems to be no requirement to buy any SIM or airtime
