I left after 50 minutes but I should have put my reg into their system !

This is on sign they sent me of, along with the 45 others.

MAXIMUM FREE STAY IS 60 MINUTES, YOU MAY EXTEND YOUR STAY UP TO A TOTAL OF 3 HOURS BY USING THE PAY BY PHONE SERVICE, IF YOU WISH TO PARK HERE WHILE YOU VISIT LOCATIONS NOT IN SOUTHGATE PARK, SUCH AS MCDONALD'S, YOU MUST PAY FROM YOUR VEHICLE ENTERS THE CAR PARK.

I don't know why you're taking this so seriously. Read some of the dozens of threads already here laughing at this scam, including those who have already easily beaten a court claim.

    Laughable rubbish. Relax!

The KEEPER can win it on appeal...

Don't go admitting to driving as these are easy to beat at POPLA as long as the KEEPER appeals as keeper.

TQ C_M for your encouragement, but I do note they are closing all loop holes with this paragraph -

We are confident that our notice to keeper complies in all respects with the requirements of the Protection of Freedoms Act and you are advised that where the charge has not been paid in full and 29 days has passed since we issued the charge and we still do not know the name and address for service of court papers of the driver, we are entitled to pursue the registered keeper for payment of the outstanding charge.

so they will pursue the RK ?

So are you buying into their flawed argument that Southgate park is relevant land under Pofa 2012  ?

If so, study the following comprehensive reply by one of our forum members,  but over on the FTLA parking forum

They beg to differ , seeing as the area is within the airport boundaries  !

The driver used McDonalds car park at Stansted so I could wait for a relatives arrival. My wife had done this on several occasions with no problem. I enclose 2 google photos which pretty much illustrates what I say on the day.

    1. The sign saying 1 hours free parking (McDonalds) so I’m in the right place, never been here before.
    2. The car park was full, there were spaces further down the road (the driver) decided to go over to McD’s - again took a while to get the order sorted via app on phone. Received call from relative and left.

Starbucks significance didn’t even register but MET have sent me 45 signs with Starbucks on!

They want a Starbucks receipt because apparently the driver had parked in an SB car park !!!!!!?
     This is absurd.

Yes but it's not a new scam: surely you've read all the posts about this place and found Joe Lycett's video?!

Yeah, it's a well known issue,  as seen in the following threads from last year

Copy and paste the exact details of the alleged breach shown on the parking charge notice , probably similar to these case examples below

They will pretend you are liable but this isn't 'relevant land'. You seem to be buying into their view, rather than just reading MET Stansted outcomes in the POPLA Decisions sticky thread.  MET are now (lately) giving up at POPLA with these cases.

We know what we're doing here, you know!

There is also the fact that the non-separate car parks (explained well by Joe Lycett, and nothing has improved in years) create ambiguity of which terms apply where because the first sign a driver sees is the invite of 60 mins free parking, and there are no barriers to stop cars driving along until they find a bay.

Ambiguous consumer notices (signs and lines) are unenforceable under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

But the winning (easy) POPLA point is 'no keeper liability'  proving with maps that this is Airport land. Already written by a number of posters in 2025 and linked in POPLA Decisions recently if you just read back from the end.

Attached is Mets response to my appeal, I did ask for a Popla code, yet none is forthcoming, this reply is pretty much like their first correspondence again they ask for a receipt and that the land is not owned by the airport. I’m unsure how to respond as my next action was to take it to POPLA.

Thanks, their reply completely ignored what I said in my appeal and they’ve repeated exactly what they said in their first letter ie requests for a Starbucks receipt plus request for the code. Thanks again ! What a palava !

If you weren't offering to pay in full , promptly,  they arent remotely interested in anyone's appeal,  they have seen the same arguments thousands of times over the years.   It's why the government have been trying to change it over the last 6 to 8 years , but hasn't happened yet because they are getting the runaround too

It wasn’t till I saw this forum and the Joe Lycett video that I decided to contest, because normally you say fair cop ! I made a mistake!
But this set up in Stansted is certainly that a set up ! So I’m all in. And I do believe I was duped, my wife has been 3 times no problem she suggested I use the C P, she believed it was all McDonalds too!
