Switching BB Providers - when to start the process?

Options
Hi all, I'm nearing the end of my 24m Vodafone BB contract and want to look elsewhere.  My contract was activated 12th June 2023, so presumably my contract ends 12th June 2025? I'll plough through the emails later for this.
Question is: When I find a new provider, how soon can I start the switching process? I haven't done this for a while so am a tad rusty!

Thanks. Penny.

You can start it any time you want to.  In reality you will want the switch to happen soon after the minimum term finishes with your current deal so you don't have to pay early termination fees.  It usually takes about two weeks to switch so start the process around a week or so before your current deal finishes.

Thanks wongataa. I'll make a note to kick things off around the week before end of current contract. Penny.

You specify the date you want the service to go live, this can be the very next day that your fixed term ends, your old provider will then refund you for the extra month you invariably end up paying,

Not every provider lets you pick a start date.

Plusnet customer service advised that if I renewed after april and the annual price increases  it would have worked out better .
ie. pay one month at full price then renew the contract after the annual increases rather than renew in march just before the annual increases.

When we were with Plusnet Business a few years back, we renewed in March then cancelled in April (under the 28 day cooling off process) and renewed immediately thus avoiding the price increase!

If you don't have fibre to the premises (small square box on a wall inside your house, with 4 lights e.g PON)  you will be forced to have that with a new provider.  That means external works. Maybe even dig up the road.

I would move to a provider that is signed upto the new switching service (see the vodafone ad on the TV for the correct name).

If vodafone offer you are good price to stay, take it !!!!

P.S BT & EE are a nightmare at the moment

Says BT/EE are a nightmare then posts a link to a youtube video of openreach supplier equipment not BT/EE responsibility with no context. Yes ok......

Been renewing broadband for the last 10 years or so, which backwards providers are you choosing that don't let you specify a date?
