Did you not point out to them that the chain was self-evidently not of satisfactory quality ( breach of s9 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 ) and that as you are still within 6 months of delivery it's up to Evans to prove that the chain was not faulty (s19(14) of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 ) ?

What that means is that Evans should have replaced the chain for free and you should not have had to spend any money buying the wrong size chain.

A chain on a brand new bike couldn't possibly fail through wear and tear after just 60 miles.

If you are going to refer this to your employer's cycle to work administrator, make sure that they understand the above points.  (ie Evans ought to be replacing the chainf fro free and they ought to refund you for the cahin you bought because thay had wrongly told you they weren't liable for the failed chain - they were!)

I mentioned it was in breach of the consumer rights act within 6 months but didn’t say the specific sections. I will do that next I think.

Be aware they may come back and say you have no consumer rights as you didn't buy the bike.

If it's a ride to work hire scheme your employer bought the bike and only they have rights against Evans.  (And those might not be consumer rights).

But nothing to stop you going back to Evans and attempting to claim what you can argue are your consumer rights...

You need to be claiming against your employer who own the bike.

Just an update - i went in armed with the above on the 29th (and the chain) and they agreed actually it sounded unreasonable when I put it that way and they’d send it off to the warranty dept for there opinion be that rejected for a reason I can’t think of or a replacement… annoyingly I’ve heard nothing and when I just rang was told it takes as long as it takes…

Just to confirm, when you went in, that was to the person who runs the scheme where you work?

No to Evan’s and they after going in with the points of law decided they’d send it off for warranty.:: heard nothing still though.
