Yep that's all good as long as every paragraph has a number (e.g. your paras which begin 'Furthermore' and 'Regarding' should be 4 and 5 then re-number the rest of the template).

    Hi Coupon-mad,

Thank you for your guidance. I’ll make the suggested changes and renumber the remaining paras of the template. I plan to email signed defense by the end of today to ClaimResponses.CNBC@justice.gov.uk as a PDF attachment.

    I appreciate your help!

    Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your incredible support throughout this process. I’ve now submitted my defence and received confirmation from the court.

    Next Steps:

    • Awaiting the Directions Questionnaire (DQ) from CNBC.

    • Will update once received and proceed as advised.

Thanks again—this forum has been a lifeline.

    Hello Everyone,

Just a quick update - I have received the below document in the post on 23rd May. I was expecting a "Directions Questionnaire (DQ)" from CNBC but have received this letter instead. Does this mean I have to wait for a call from G24 before this case can go any further?

    Many Thanks,

If it's just the usual 'We've received your defence/case could be stayed' letter that's normal. Nobody calls you.

  • @Coupon-mad - I have not heard anything since the last document was posted to me on 23rd May. Still waiting for a call from G24 before this case can go any further.

    In the Letter;
I acknowledge receipt of your defence. A copy is being served on the claimant (or the claimant's solicitor) The claimant may contact you direct to attempt to resolve any dispute. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, the claimant will inform the court that he wishes to proceed. The court will then inform you of what will happen.

Where he wishes to proceed, the claimant must contact the court within 28 days after receiving a copy of your defence. After that period has elapsed, the claim will be stayed. The only action the claimant can then take will be to apply to a judge for an order lifting the stay.

Am I correct in understating this?

    1. The claimant has 28 days from receiving my defence to tell the court they want to proceed.

    2. If they don’t do this within 28 days, the case is stayed — basically paused?

Given the length of time this has been dragging on, with a claim issued in April, it is unusual that nothing further has happened. Please check your MCOL history and copy and paste its contents here for us to see.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
