    Hi
dragging up an oldish thread, I contacted Contester Legal/SAZ Solicitors, and they have made submissions to have the claim struck out. In the meantime (!) Gladstones have resubmitted the claim and obtained a default judgement.

SAZ have said Gladstones are in breach of legislation by doing this as they did not get permission from the court to withdraw and resubmit and I should have received a copy of the court permission. They are requesting a consent order from Gladstones, failing that a set-aside.

That’s all well and good and I wouldn’t normally worry, *but* I have now received notification my credit score has dropped 240 points, (was previously 999 for the last 5+ years) and this week Barclaycard have reduced my credit limit from £13600 to £100.

    Lovely x

Gladstones don’t seem bothered (no response to a complaint) would the SRA or the ombudsman take the same view? It’s the principle more than anything else.
    Wow.

The SRA might be interested in this.

As will the Government, not to assist in your case or to sanction Gladstones but to inform them about this rogue conduct as part of your response to this:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6617396/parking-code-of-practice-consultation-8-weeks-from-11th-july-2025/p1

We need every poster to come back & complete this vital Consultation before the deadline! Just 2 weeks left but please don't rush it. You can do some then save it and come back to it as you have time.

We understand that you may need some pointers. It looks laborious, we get that.

So to try to help, I've written some guidance on that thread.

Any questions on the Consultation please ask - on the dedicated thread - but I've covered up to question 20 already in that first post, openly telling everyone what I'm going to put and/or what sort of evidence you might wish to use for your response, if you agree with what we'll be saying from our experience.

People like you are living & breathing the intimidation & greed first hand so your voice is needed. Please tell the government about this conduct by Gladstones, maybe in the section about banning DRFs. Question 12(a).

As you'll see from my guidance, leave question 12(b) blank! £0 had not been given as an option so you leave that one.

Thank you, I will definitely do this.

With regards to the SRA, are they truly independent or favour the firms in their association? Can I just go to the ombudsman first?

The SRA is the right place for the complaint because I think the Legal Ombudsman is probably only for clients of the solicitors.

Could I make a complaint to the court in the first instance?

    Yes, do that too.

But do also report them to the SRA. Did you know they were fined by the SRA a few years ago?

And do the Consultation before it closes. Every response balances out one from the parking industry.

I will definitely complete the consultation tomorrow.

I did search the SRA database and couldn’t find any complaints under Gladstones, I presume they trade under a few names? I did see three of their staff are ‘real’ solicitors and as such regulated. What name were they fined under?

Thanks. Interesting stuff, obviously ambulance chasers, only interested in £££

Strange they do not appear under the search facility on the SRA website? I think I will seek compensation for the inconvenience and loss they have caused me.

This sanction has always appeared on the SRA website. You didn't need to search for it. This investigation was always listed under their name after the outcome. Has it gone?
