I've come to this thread late in the day and my BT shares have been transferred over.  I have 5 months before they start charging a fee.

These BT shares have never matched the value I bought them for so I might as well sell them,  does anyone know will I have to pay a fee to the platform?
A standard ii account gets the credit for one free trade a month. Whether that's being given in the fee-free period for those transferring, I don't know. If not, it's £3.99 for a trade.
  • Just received a letter from Jarvis:

'We notified you in April that our relationship with you was being terminated...

... your account was not included in the transfer to ii and we requested in that notification that you take action to find an alternative'

Erm, no you didn't. You told me it was transferring, remember? The past few messages you sent me entitled 'Information on your move to interactive investor'?

I was awaiting it happening and letting it go through and then using the 6 months without fees to assess a move elsewhere.

Oh well. I-web it is then

It appears that Jarvis are pulling down the shutters on access to their web-site.
The certificate for the web-site jarvisim.co.uk expired on Sat, 12 Jul 2025 07:22:03 GMT.  My version of Firefox blocked access with no facility to accept the risk by ignoring the out-of-date certificate, but Chromium did allow me to access having accepted the warning.

Shutters now re-opened (at least for a while) - new certificate added which ends August 2026, though I doubt there'll be a site there much beyond August 2025.

Received the same letter today. Had reason to ring them as the letter didn't cover a matter I'd previously raised with them. Whic h is still unresolved. Response was a terse it's a default letter sent to everybody. As is the case when operations close down. Does tend to get rather messy. Not pleasant for those empoyees left to perform the sweeping up. As no doubt they'll be receiving no end of similar calls. Anyway the matter was dealt with on the phone eventually. Sad day as for many decades was a great business. Now like the fax machine companies, Consigned to the history books.

Have a look at Trading 212 and/or iWeb (recently rebranded to Scottish Widows)

iWeb will probably be more 'familiar' if you are used to x-o

    https://www.iweb-sharedealing.co.uk/
    https://www.trading212.com/
  • Trading 212 doesn't accept bonds. iWeb / Scottish Widows did not accept some LSE bonds, so the cheapest ISA I could find for them is with Saxo with a 0.12% annual fee.

How often do you trade? IG Invest is a good option if you place at least three trades per quarter as then the account fee is waived. Zero commission and unlike other zero commission brokers IG will give you 15 second quotes for LSE trades. Looks like it has a 10%/£200 max cashback offer on at the moment as well. I've been using it a lot and I'm very happy so far. So far all dividends have been credited on the day they've been due as well. Only ETFs, ITs and individual company shares though.

    https://www.ig.com/uk/investments/

"If you place 3+ trades during the quarter, there is no custody fee to pay." Otherwise £24.00.

Thanks. I had forgotten I posted the question here so didn't check sooner. I trade very infrequently as this is a non ISA account. I am now looking at moving all holdings into an ISA account away from ii. I understand trading 212 doesn't offer bed and ISA service so will need to do it manually not since abt iweb .

@xyz123 have you looked at Scottish Widows Share Dealing service (iWeb was moved into it)?
