I use Apple pay, no idea about other options, sorry.

You still get cashback, otherwise what's the point at buying them at face value?  Promo codes still work on gift card purchases too.  What Airtime have changed is that giftcard purchases do not qualify for the monthly spending challenge.

Coincidentally, noticed that my last supermarket giftcard purchases (John Lewis, Tesco) now return 3% rather than 4.

They will be short of my spend if this has buggered up the gift card hack. 

You also don't get stamps on the bonus reward card thing for Gift Cards anymore. Game over for that as far as I'm concerned, I'll just get rewards where I happen to use a merchant offering them.

Same for me. Pity really, haven't paid a phone bill for the last 6 months.

Yes, sorry that's what I was thinking of, the spending challenges. TBH the rates are so poor by comparison with Everup, and I don't have Tesco on my giftcard option list, I've all but given up looking at Airtime's giftcard offering now.  I use Everup, and also Topcashback when they are offering a promo code that's worth having despite the lower than Everup cashback rate.

Just be aware that using a gift card would negate any S75 claim & also make sorting any issues a lot more complex.

Both me and the Mrs haven't paid our SIM only contract for over a year doing the £10 shopping gift card trick for our challenges. Had to come to an end sometime I guess, had it good. Was a sign they were tightening the belt when supermarkets went from 4% down to 3% or even 1% for Sainsbury's. Oh well no more scanning 8 gift cards at the checkout getting funny looks.

Yep aware, really only want to use gift cards for weekly supermarket shops so S75 unlikely to be relevant.

Looks like airtime rewards are working on a fix. When you go to buy a gift card it blocks credit cards and has this message

We’ve temporarily disabled credit card payments for gift cards while we work on resolving an issue. Debit cards are still available as normal.

Also just to add ive never faced extra charges for buying gift cards on my CC, must he lucky.

Just going to try a min available gift card purchase with my Santander Edge cc to check cash advance not triggered by their merchant code. 

Can't use direct banking 'cos cc so have added cc to Google Pay (not happy having this card linked here but anyways). App says that this card and the Tesco Clubcard Pay+ Visa card that sits on Google Pay are both invalid for this merchant. No idea why this might be so, is it invalid for Everup or the seller of the £5 Tesco giftcard? 

Not going well with Everup so far.

Further, problem was that the card must be enabled for contactless payments - just adding to Google Pay isn't sufficient.

Tesco giftcard bought and added to wallet, cashback credited to account. Pending on Santander account, no sign of cash advance charges.
