You will get plenty of replies saying you should not pay anything and to challenge to the end; however, they will come from people who do this as a pastime.

Ask yourself if you want to spend hours on a trivial matter or pay £20 and do something more constructive with your time; you then have your answer.

And then can you send me £20 as well, please?

BUT, since they're saying my original £2 ticket wasn't used to pay for anything, can I charge it back through my bank? I know it's petty, but I feel like they're being slightly dodgy since I know I put my number plate in the system correctly.
    Whats your allegation against them?

You presumably bought 3 hours parking for S666EAB when your car is actually S663EAB but that isnt their fault and had such a plated vehicle parked there your payment would have covered it.

Certainly I know with AmEx they typically will just waive anything under £10 because the time/effort for them to manage the chargeback process costs them more than that so pointless to do.
Sorry either I am being thick or have missed something where did the OP state this?
If your assumption was true that would be a minor keying error and the charge should have been cancelled!
I thought they stated; "I know  I put my number plate in the system correctly".
