How many inches can you handle?

  • Depends on the room. My lounge has a 32" in it, but i think we could have fitted a 37" in without it looking terrible.

My dad has a 42".. it's too big for the room and badly positioned - i get neck ache looking at it.

Each to his own, but make sure it looks ok in your room and not too overbearing

A couple of months ago, after buying a 23" panasonic lcd, I had cause to contact them, they told me that they will be withdrawing any smaller models and concentrating on 26" and above

I've got a 50" Samsung in a 20 x 15ft room - nearest seat approx 7 ft from screen. Prior to this I had a 32" CRT. By the time you added the inbuilt speakers which were either side of the screen, plus column speakers for my cinema system either side (replaced these with 2-inch cubes that sit under the new Samsung), total size of the installation was only approx 3 inches narrower than the new Samsung. Overall space used is marginally less, because not having the depth of the CRT means it can go further into the corner.

What looks daft to me is when people hang enormous TVs on the wall...don't know how they don't strain their neck.

Wouldn't want one this size in a room any smaller than mine (or anything bigger in my room size). That said, when I visit anyone else it's like watching TV on a postage stamp nowadays.
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
  • I have recently bought a 40 inch sony lcd it looked great in the shop but once it was home its really too big as most peoples reaction is "bloody hell" thats big <the telly>.If i could take back time 32 inches would be enough for me
