Anyone replaced central heating with air to air in bungalow?

Thanks QrizB. Obviously I'm just thinking out loud for options that might suit people, where a full ASHP is unsuitable, or too intimidating.
Not sure why, but I'm a bit pessimistic that the Gov will widen financial support for resistive heating options (heat batteries, storage heaters, leccy boiler + batts etc), but you never know. For the A2A variation on the theme, just a few £,000's, maybe half the £7.5k, would be a gamechanger (in my opinion).
And back to the thread, all such options can of course be combined with an A2A unit or two. Mine are currently providing cooling. Doesn't happen much, maybe 10-14 days per year total, but a really good additional benefitMart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Yep. I used to say 5-7 days a year, but this decade it's going up.zxzxzx said:

Wifey still laughs at me - when the first was installed in 2017 (April I think) I said that I doubted we'd ever need the cooling function. About a month later we had a week long heat spike, and the A2A was worth every penny.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Does anyone know if this would need planning permission?0

Doesn't happen much, maybe 10-14 days per year total, but a really good additional benefitI suspect it might, but fairly straightforward and cheap without a subsidy, I hope. A low rated split A2A for downstairs (lounge and kitchen) with the log burner for the coldest days and hot water heating from spare PV (which I get a bit of even in winter) or cheap overnight electricity which I have due to an EV. Not sure if it's worth me getting V2L into the equation:-) Batteries probably not worth it for single occupancy and limited space anyway. On the subject of air conditioning, it would be very useful on an increasing number of occasions though passive measure should be enough in most conditions. But this is early for heat and I've just jury rigged my reflective insulation on the outside of my S facing dining room window. Cheap, very effective if unsightly. I was even entertained as a formation of 4 Spitfires and a Harvard (I think) came over, formed up into line abreast as I was watching, all filmed ( I presume) by a Piper Arrow.1 -
Is this still the right way to do the noise assessment does anyone know ?

@matt_drummer had a right run-around from his planning people regarding noise levels when he was having his heat pump installed. Drop him a PM and seek his advice (or look at his past threads and work through them).barker77 said:Is this still the right way to do the noise assessment does anyone know ?https://www.shetland.gov.uk/downloads/file/3123/ashp-mcs-020-noise-impact-assessment
