We have one 5 way unit outside connected to 3 single wall units downstairs and 1 unit upstairs. It is in loft with vents into each bedroom with the return in ceiling on landing. Control is also on landing. So we have a spare port if we want an extra unit. We lose individual control in each bedroom, but we just leave the upstairs one on quiet mode 24rhs a day ,so the upstairs is a constant temperature.

    Something like https://www.airconditioningworld.co.uk/lg-cl12f-n50-3-5kw-

How are you doing bathroom heating ?
If you've got vents in the bedrooms then it cant be ever so hard to put one in the bathroom as well. I suspect if you are heating the bedrooms then that's when you want the bathroom warm as well (when you get up and when you go to bed)

If that's insufficient then an electric towel rail would give it a bit of a boost

I'm considering A2A at some stage and when I had my bathroom upgraded last year I replaced the wet radiator with an electric towel rail and also installed a MHRV fan in place of the normal one. I use the rad to mop up spare solar power and occasionally used it overnight using cheap electricity.

For water I already use an iboost which does most of my hot water. Last year I used rather more gas than previously at 2800kWh but with a saving of the £110 p.a. gas standing charge and using cheap overnight or spare solar (I've no domestic battery) my concerns over running costs aren't major. The odd cold dunkelflaute January can be met with stoking the wood burner with free and self-seasoned wood.

I think I’m going to keep a small combi in loft for hot water and to heat my two bathrooms. This means im still paying gas standing charge and using some gas, but will still be producing loads less carbon cos of the A2A everywhere else. Also means I don’t have to have a tank which gives me loads more space. A compromise for now!

With Bungalows, I am thinking with a redesign to get rid of corridors, so bedrooms off the main living air, then a single air-to-air unit for the living area would work for me, opening the bedroom doors at say 8pm to let a bit of heat into them. I don't use hot water at all (cold water shower to wake up) but when the zero s/c gas tariffs come in later this year, keeping gas then becomes viable (just to keep the house easy to sell). For bathrooms I already have wall halogen heaters that are only used when I am in there (last winter did not use it at all as relatively mild). There was a hint that grants for A2A may be coming.

    There isn't any.
    So far it's just speculation.

Well if it takes as long as it did to sort out the EPC fiasco after they started talking about it,  then I reckon 2035 seems to be about par for the course  :/ .

I'd have thought that a bungalow would lend itself to  a split A2A system as the piping from the external unit to the indoor air handlers could run through the loft space.
That's how mine was installed. Through the gable wall and clipped to the beams.
Multisplit aircon is very good and possibly cheaper to install that ducted A/C.

Six indoor units would probably require two
outdoor inverter heatpumps (heating and cooling).
Can I ask what brand you had installed and who installed it ? Also any idea what COP you got over winter , I think they are better than the COP for air to water but id love to know if that’s true ?

Mistubish do outside units that can drive up to 11 indoor units

The PUMY-P series allows up to 11 indoor units to be connected to a single outdoor unit, using the standard City Multi branch pipework system or via branch boxes and/or LEV kits to connect M Series or Mr Slim indoor units. This makes it an economic and efficient answer for multi-room applications, whilst also offering space saving benefits. Each size is available in both single and three phase options (22.4kW is three phase only).

You might have forgotten but danrv has a thread all about his system. I gave you a link in the very first reply back on page 1 of this thread.
You'll find some of your answers in that thread.
