I really don't understand how it is possible that you are on bad terms but you let someone into your home or that you let them into your home but you do not clear everything away. It sounds like you do not have any evidence that he took the ticket. The police is not going to do anything if you cannot provide any evidence especially if he denies it. You could contact the lottery and tell them you lost the ticket but you have the receipt and hope they can trace your ticket in their system and award you any money but apart from that there is nothing you can do.
