EON massive bills since switching
We switched to EON in January after doing a comparison on Uswitch it was supposed to save us money however our bills have tripled. Our Electric units have gone from 250 a month to 850 and it makes no sense whatsoever. The Gas appears to be high as well. We are on Smart Meters but I have to say I don't trust what they are reading. Does anyone have any ideas. The electric meter is an Aclara SGM1411-B.
Many Thanks

Is this one single month or is over multiple months?
Did you take a reading on the day of the changeover? Does your final reading on the bill with your previous supplier marry up to your opening reading with EON?Know what you don't0 -
Have you compared to last years readings?. Most of your energy is used between around November to around April time due to it being darker and colder a lot. You will make it up in the summer when it is warmer and lighter. Have you checked the meter readings manually just to make sure they match with what they are using. Obviously it could be a meter issue, and that does sound a lot of difference - we use about average electricity a year, about 2,600KwH. Are you a high user normally?

When you say 'save you money' was that predicted by monthly DD or actual usage?Do you have actual monthly meter readings for last 12 months?0

This is over one month. We aren't high electricity users, there are two of us at work all day not at home. Have checked the meters and the readings are matching. To compare we were with octopus energy in December we used 250 units in total, since we moved in January its been consistently 850 units. The bill has gone from £104 for gas and £80 for electric to £220 for electric and £200 for gas. All the usage prices were cheaper with Eon than with October.0

Can we check that Eon has the correct meter details ?
Have a look at your meters and note the serial numbers - are these the same as on the bills?
Just because they are Smart doesn't mean they are communicating. On your bills what is the letter that follows the readings - A C E S or Our Read or Your Read.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2 -
Don't think in units (they can mean several different things) or ££, work only in kWh obtained from actual meter readings (smart, customer or meter reader), never estimated ones.0

You switched in January. Is your EON bill from switch date through to March - as in far longer than a month?Does the blurb at the bottom of you bill state an average KWh daily usage over the billing period? If so how does it compare to your Octopus bills?0

Can you share the kWh usage/readings from recent bills, both pre and post EON, with dates. Each reading will indicate whether it was an estimate or an actual reading.0
