  • Poor you!!!

We have a Baxi boiler - we're lucky that we have a fairly reliable plumber who has come every time it's gone wrong! Anyway yesterday morning - NO HOT WATER ended up having an almighty row with his lordship as he accused me of sabotaging it so he had to have a cold shower (of course me and the kids were quite happy with cold water!!!?)

Anyway I'm rambling - no central heating is the future - grew up without it and have spent the last few days wearing extra jumpers etc....... last night was bloody cold though mind............

ours is 18 months old and we have had the engineers out so many times. pretty much the whole inside has been gutted and replaced. obviously now the boiler is going to behave, but everything else with the system will play up- blimming radiators!

i think that we should have one of those large airing cupboard boilers for hot water, and then electric fires or open fires for heat. would save a lot of hassle (although probably cost more - not very MSE i admit!:o)

hope yours is okay, and there are no further probs! :D
Back and ready to save some money! :D
  • PS I went to tesco a while ago to buy heat magazine (to cheer me up) and ended up buying loads to chocolate to eat and cook with, the national enquirer, sweet potatoes, a baguette, quorn pieces, milk, crisps.

So i ended up spending £20 including 3 savings stamps. Blimming radiator has really ruined my day.
Back and ready to save some money! :D
  • Today has gone much better! I delegated the responsibility of the radiator to my husband!

He rang the builders and explained about the sludge, and that it would be attributed to them not adding the additive at time of installation 18 months ago, against the manufacturers instructions. They have agreed that it is their fault and will be sending out a plumber to sort it out, no cost!! :D

I've managed to make some headway into my shoddy freezer and cooked up a batch of HM quorn cottage pie, HM apple crumble, HM choc chip fairy cakes and HM bread. Now i just need to make a big batch of soup and i will be happy! :j

Mrsdoyle, you say your boiler is 18 months old, is that how old your house is?, Builders registered with the NHBC are required to fix any defects within the first 2 years, have you contacted them, if not phone the NHBC, I am not sure if boilers are covered, but nothing lost nothing gained.

This is a link to the NHBC website, and it tells you what happens if youre home is under two years.

Mrsdoyle - you sneaked in whilst I was typing - I'm glad its sorted.

sometimes i think it might be better being married to a builder! :rotfl::rotfl:

in all fairness bryant have been fairly good as we have repeatedly had problems with the boiler....in 18 months we've probably had 25+ visits from baxi employees, builders from the site and plumbers! :o

it just drives me mad that they couldn't do it properly the first time, its a good thing i only work in the afternoons/evenings as i'm always waiting for someone! :rotfl:
