Back and ready to save some money! :D

me too, i cant remember the last time i didnt look on this site at least once a day! my poor husband is so neglected! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • I've just had a lovely lunch with my son....pitta bread with dairylea light, a few tortilla chips, a satsuma, apple and grapes.

Now my meal plan for the week is complete which is a relief as the only thing i will need to buy to make some of the later recipes is milk! :D

My son has gone 3 nights with pants and no accidents so im not even considering buying night time nappies. Life feels easier today! :j

I've worked out my budget for February now, and as i pay my council tax over 10 months i've got 2 months break now so i'm planning to save the £110 i would normally pay! Yay! :T

Anyway, my bread looks like its about to explode out of the BM so i'm going to rescue it....too much yeast i reckon! :rotfl::rotfl:

  • I've just done something that i consider to be momentous! :j

After transferring the balance on my credit card (£250) onto that of my husbands (0% till June) i've just rang HSBC and cancelled it. They kept asking me why i was cancelling, and didnt seem to understand that there was no reason to keep it!

I've had the card for years and years, and its been a millstone around my neck. This way i can pay off the debt quicker as i pay at least double of the minimum payment on my husbands card each month.

It is now sitting in pieces next to me!! :j:T:cheesy::):smiley:grin:

This thread is becoming like a debt diary. If anyone reads this and knows if the title can be changed...could you please give me a clue?

Wow I love your positivity. Could you allow yourself a small treats budget everyweek so you don't go to mad as staying in touch with friends and family is still important. What I means is don't lose sight of the things that are important just to save money. If it takes a little longer but you don't feel like your life is on hold then maybe you'll stick to the budget better and not resent it. If you see what I mean?

    thank you :D

tbh i could siphon off some money for treats, but any spare pounds are going into the sealed pot challenge for a flat screen tv next january, or into saving stamps so we can have a great christmas this year. im converting my clubcard points into airmiles as im desperate for a holiday next year (aiming for NYC:p)

the main treat that im allowing myself atm is heat magazine each tuesday! :o i know i could read the website but its not very user friendly and no one else i know buys heat or i would steal it from them!

im not at the stage where im resenting the budget, im resenting myself for spending money like water when i have a real chance of changing my life this year! i will do better!! :rotfl:

anyway, thank you again for reading...have a great week xx

  • Im glad to see you have some out of the mini crisis. Like others said everyone does it. I think the trick is to get back on board and dont beat yourself up too much.

PS guess who just spent £8 on lunch today  but I did avoid the chip shop and made myself cook dinner for the family at 6.45 after leaving the house at 7 :D .

  • Having a rubbish morning today. :(

After snapping the bleed valve off my radiator in December, the sub contracted plumber graced me with his presence today. (This is following a NUMBER of discussions with Domestic & General who were refusing to repair under my expensive insurance)

Anyway, after disappearing off for an hour to find the part he turned up with a new radiator (different to all the rest in my new build house) and started draining the water. Basically lots of black sludge came out.

The reason that im so upset is because i asked a number of baxi employees who came out if sludge could get in the system (as this isnt covered under insurance) and i was made to feel stupid. 'No, its a new system', 'The boiler siphons off the sludge', 'Dont be silly' etc....

It transpires after having a chat with the plumber, that the reason it has built up would usually be because when it was installed, the repellent or additive wasnt added to prevent it. Bloody bryant homes!

Now we are going to ring them up and find out what has happened, and hopefully get them to cover the cost of the inevitable flushing, which will cost £300. So much for paying off £620 of debt this month!

Every time i start to feel a tiny bit more relaxed about the heating system it breaks or something goes wrong.

I cant wait to be debt free. We are definitely moving to a house with no central heating. A log fire in the living room will suffice!
