Alternative solution to Menu Preference

One of the things that put users off is the exploding menu options that spit out if you move the mouse over the quick links or categories menu option and what is worse is them disappearing unless you move the mouse over the other forum rules menu option.

Now there is a MSE site provided solution to this

but it depends on cookies, this does not work for me because my cookies are deleted regularly.

If they had made it check a setting in your account profile then that would have been a slicker way to get rid of it as a set and forget option. 

I don't have any expectation of that happening any time soon so I was really pleased when I found my own tech solution. I won't publish it here in case the Dev's don't want that sort of thing, but you can PM me for the solution if you want. I am SO pleased to have got rid of it forever as it really put me off using the site.

I would like to see a lot more customisation available on the MSE forum site, for example I don't like the MSE forum home page

I would rather be able to choose my MSE homepage and I would choose the ALL BOARDS link as my homepage, i.e. the page every page goes to if you click MSE Forum from the toolbar.

Now you could say I am being lazy and it is one just one more click, but we like what we like.
