Visa for the UK

Options
A friend from South America was coming to visit us and applied for a visa.
She received her passport with no visa and no explanation.
Does this mean that she has been rejected?
Her husband and son have been accepted (so no idea why she was rejected although she did come her last year without them).

This is probably a clerical error: best if you write to your MP giving full details, and at the same time ask her to email your MP and give him/her permission to investigate the problem, quoting your address.

Hasn't she contacted them to ask?
That is where she should start. They will know.

Whereabouts is she from? South America isn’t a country and most of the countries in S America don’t need a visa (but do need an ETA).

But if she does need a visitor visa then yes, it sounds like an error. If UKVi refuse a visa then they’ll let you know.

She does need a visa and I can't say my wife is very concerned about personal information (growing up in a low trust society makes you like that) on line

Fair enough, I was just trying to help. I worked in that field for a few years so have some knowledge, but you obviously don’t want to divulge too much in the way of detail.

No problem, Google is your friend or get them to phone up and ask what has happened. Or else the father and son just come on their own.
