Many people with learning difficulties would score well on this activity

Yet Mrs only has a bank acc for ID, & she is considered  "manage complex budgeting decisions" Yet asks me if she can buy a book to read, & I have to purchase it... Has no idea on how much she has or how she would manage household bills...

It's another one of no matter what you say, they often take a account as being able to manage.

Our autistic son has a basic bank account for his benefits but it was opened by his mother. She has third party access, so in reality runs the account for him. He has no concept of the value of money and wouldn't know how much change to expect.

Losing PIP can also affect eligibility to CTR & the ability to pay for social care support

sorry to jump on thread but hope someone can help. My father has dementia (along with other issues) he has an ongoing award and on his scoring he scored 4 points on six parts, do you think the new reforms will affect him. I have POA on him and just trying to work out his monies for him. Thanks for any help

On the face of it his PIP won't be affected by proposals because the only PIP change seemingly he could be affected by he clearly won't be.. Longer term there may be descriptor changes (which are sort of indicated into future in looking at relevance of activities/descriptors as disablement changes in society) but again he may well not be affected materially by such and by then we're probably looking at a new government anyway. This government backed away from a freeze next year on PIP payments so we expect they'll continue to be uprated with inflation as will happen next month.

Only 13% of those currently getting standard rate care will still be entitled to it when reassessed after Nov 26 if the reform takes place.

Those stats are terrifying but I don't think anyone can consider themselves to be 'safe'.

Particularly as we've no idea what questions will be in the revamped PIP application, or indeed the handbook assessors will be required to use to allocate points against those questions.

Even if someone does qualify for PIP, they're pushing ahead with the 'consultation' regarding on what aids / adaptations / therapies / medications etc. recipients currently spend the benefit cash.

    Vouchers, anyone?

DWP used an 'independent' survey company to undertake the consultation of 60,000 PIP recipients.  In a pathetically cheap Musk-like move, those who respond will receive a £10 gift card for doing so.

It looks like those who have already received the consultation questionnaire are not responding.

We know what will happen... exactly the same as happened when they chopped terms and payment for Limited Capability for Work... and when they cut out low rate care from DLA in the remapping to PIP. We will simply see a reduction in the benefit bill which then over time starts to vanish as more claimants seek (and many get) higher awards... we'll see claimants battling for those 4 pointers and we'll see an increase in the rate of enhanced awards.

Any news re the points level to be entitled to "enhanced" PIP ?

ie) If you need 4 points in a single category for standard - they will probably raise the level for "enhanced" too ?
