I do use the first one for a single monthly DD, but from the posts above it looks like I don't even need that!0 -
I have 2 Edge saving accounts, one me, one for my wife as it is a joint account and I think I will open another two sole Edge current accounts, one for me and one for my wife then a edge savings account each.
Do you think I will get away with it, having four savings accounts and three current accounts?
And should I apply for the edge current account while logged in?
I have 2 logins, one for my wife and one for me.
I deal with all of the bank accounts I don't think my wife even knows how to log in, she purchases everything using her Tesco credit card unless she gets cashback from Santander and I pay the bill.
If she needs cash we have a stash under the mattress

Having looked on Santander's website, it clearly states "You may only hold a maximum of two Santander Edge current accounts, one in your own name and one in joint names."It does actually say this on the Santander Edge current account overview page..."You can apply if:- you’re over 18
- you live in the UK permanently.
You may only hold a maximum of two Santander Edge current accounts, one in your own name and one in joint names".
However, the t's & c's state:EligibilityYou can only have this account if you’re 18 or over and live in the UK.You can’t have more than two Santander Edge current accounts with us. So, if you have a
Santander Edge current account in your sole name and also a joint account, you can’t apply for
another. If you do apply for another account, we’ll reject your application and any person you
apply with may become aware of your existing accounts. So the t's & c's don't prohibit having a 2nd sole Edge current account as long as you don't also have a joint one.

I was going to write exactly the same comment @clivep, the General Account T&Cs don't refer to this. Based on this small discussion, in the last 15 minutes I have opened a 2nd Edge current account and a 2nd Edge Saver (Issue 3 ... same interest rate as Issue 2)), they appear in my online dashboard and I have performed transactions on them.
Edit. Note - the Edge Saver Issue 3 (from 3 March 2025) interest rate is 4.5% AER with bonus rate 1.5% AER total 6.00% AER variable for 12 months, whereas the Issue 2 interest rate is 4.0% AER with bonus rate 2.0% AER total 6.00% AER variable for 12 months.1 -
All sorts of T&Cs prohibit or allow all sorts of things. The banks may or may not enforce those T&Cs. I don't recommend breaching T&Cs but it is a personal decision what you do if terms aren't enforced. So the t's & c's don't prohibit having a 2nd sole Edge current account as long as you don't also have a joint one.

Thanks so much Friolento, CliveP and Dealyboy for clarifying all of the above xx1

I know this is a bit extreme but as I read it from this discussion it appears that the second individual Edge current account can be opened and nothing done with it! No DDs to trigger the fee, no minimum deposit, just open another Edge Saver. I've no availability for a joint account.
Having said that, I would make sundry modest deposits and withdrawals to avoid having it look like abuse. Santander is very much my main bank and I already have the full set - Edge C/A, Easy Access Saver, Edge Saver, Monthly Saver. Don't want to muddy the waters.1 -
That's exactly what I've done, let's see if they say anything 🤔0
