They've changed the packaging of their fruit and nut muesli recently and I haven't teasted it since but I used to recommend that to everyone. It was way cheaper than other brands and much tastier too.
My sons and husband insist that no sausages taste as good as the ones from our local farm shop and one of my boys can usually spot an imposter a mile off. Last weekend I risked it and bought Lidl's premium pork and herb ones, about £1.74 for 6. We just told the lad that it was a new range from the farm shop and they were doing a survey so what did he think. He thought they were great. Pork content was incredibly high too - around 95% I think.
We used to like the large black bags of salt and black pepper crisps, which were great vfm. The chocolate raisins and bars are great and the American-style choc chip cookies are dangerously addictive too.
We got the Cien toilet paper this weekend and it's really very good. Not soft and luxury but softer than I'd expected for the money and the family isn't nearly so wasteful with it.0 -
That seems to be a Lidl (and to a lesser extent, Aldi)-specific cultural thing; I've been on the other end of that (i.e just a couple of items), gone to take my normal place in the queue and been waved in front by someone with a trolley-full of shopping.
Mum & I always let people who just have a few items past as by the time they've gone through the till we've finished unpacking our trolley. Takes the pressure off everyone and hopefully spreads a little cheer!0 -
Lidl nappies are great value - they are as good as pampers (the baby dry ones) and all the supermarkets ones and are only £5 for a big pack. The same size pack in tesco is about £7.
I can highly reccomend these too, I always used Pampers but have found these to be better, worth a try for a fiver!!!0 -
I find Lidl a bit 'hit and miss', but when I do go there am always surprised at the quality of the food, it really is good.
Frozen Argentinian steaks are to die for, really thick and very meating and tasty - £3.59 for two steaks
I popped in yesterday, cos hubby only like Lidl Cherry Jam and most other brands cherry jam are very expensive. I was surprised to see that they also have organic vegetables, at about a 1/3 of the cost that I am currently paying for my organic vegetable box!
There are bargains to be had - you just need to be selective and not too picky0 -

May I suggest you check the authenticity ot there "organic" produce. So much produce passes as organic however it isn't necessarily the same strict standards of the UK Soil Association.Let the wind free, where e'r you may be.0 -

I have bought some and it appears to be genuine. I would expect German standards to meet, or probably exceed UK ones. This appears along similar lines as an earlier poster saying something about hydrogenated fats simply because some some products are from somewhere else in the EU.Remember that most standards are decided at the EU level.
I personally think that the "domestic" supermarkets inflate the prices of organic and fairtrade products more than Lidl etc. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I would recommend their chocolate muesli (I'm addicted ...) and their chocolate cookies, even their cheap chocolate isn't bad (can you spot a theme here? :rotfl: )
Also their couscous is half the price of anywhere else.
Mind you, I'm in Spain, so I don't know if they sell the same products in the UK.0 -
I really like the fresh lasagne and I always get a couple when they are on special offer at £1.49 which is quite often.
We also like the duo yogurts which are 32p each and really tasty. I love the cherry one the best. My kids like the choco ones.
The frozen breaded haddock is great too - the cheaper box in red. I don't like the stuffed frozen breaded plaice as it was too salty.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I always understood that, as long as it was grown in manure, it could be called 'organic'.
One reason I don't touch the stuff!!!0
