Lidl strawberry jam is absolutely the best - it beats all other brands, even the most expensive ones, hands down.0

Olive Oil margarine
Part-baked bread rolls
Breaded haddock steaks (pieces not uniform sized but excellent quality)
Bread mixes -White one can be used for homemade pizza base if you add a couple of tablespoons of Olive Oil.
Bottled cherries
Natural yoghurt
California Walnuts
Cream cheeses
Pasta
Plus all the things that everone else has said0 -
Thing is with Aldi's( least it is how it seems to me) the stuff isn't necessarily cheaper but it is of really good quality for certain things. Especially their cheese frozen goods and chocolate and toiletries etc.Always buy their t rolls and their mascara is beautiful!xXx-Sukysue-xXx0

I love Lidl and so do lots of my friends - it is a bit of a cult thing where we are.
The randomness of what I buy is amazing for example:
Chocolate coissants 10 for £1.89
Choc chip cookies 29p (kids prefer these to maryland when tasted blind)
Ski Helmet £5.99
Catfood 29p a tin - my cats love this more than any other brand
Golf umbrella £2.99
Large beer cans £8.99 for 10 pints
punnet of toms and
a pinapple
I find their fruit good in my one, bananas are the only thing to watch. sliced meat too smoked for us.
Start small and expand your range each time you go - I love bringing it all home in a cardboard box.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
i seem to do the same as others and do weekly shopping at lidl and then maybe once a month go to tesco for the things you can't get in lidl.
i love their coleslaw - it's the best i've ever tasted, also their pasties are fab, their lasagne is gorgeous, the part baked rolls are delicious and their ice creams are brilliant value for money
i find their fruit and veg fine, it keeps just as long as tesco in my experience - and when they do their half price days it's an absolute bargain.
their version of marmite was vile, but my mum loved it
i also use an ikea bag and it fits all my food in it fine0 -
Lidl is the place to buy German sausages! Unfortunately Aldi don't have much German stuff.
Tesco's "Schulte" range is not bad, either, and reasonably priced, too.0 -
my kids -and me-love their yoghurts especially the ones in 500ml pots with handles.i too dont go in as often as i should but im thinking of visiting there more regularly as i pass it going to/from work.
i find some things are great and others are awful but its just been trial and error over the years

Hi Guys
I am new the board so hello to everyone.
I also drive past a Lidl on the way to and from work and tonight went in for the first time. I got some washing up liquid, bread rolls and Hula Hoops (18 packs for £1.99). I signed up on the internet so they can email me their special offers whenever they have them.Mortgage FreeSave £5,000 in 2020[CENTER:j0 -
Always check the ingredients, alot of items are cheap becuase they contain Hydrogenated Oils if you dont know what they are then its worth reading this http://www.tfx.org.uk/
The main problem area flagged up was the 'value supermarket' sector (not the UK supermarkets' 'value' brands which comply with their low-trans policies) which import cheap produce from abroad which may contain hydrogenated oil. So if you shop in Aldi, Netto or similar shops, exercise caution0 -
Starting Slimming world next week, picked out a recipe, shepherds pie with swede topping, went in Lidls today and bought the most enormous swede you have ever seen. I usually pay about 55p for small half of one cling filmed up in Sainsburys. This one is as big as a persons head, all one price, about 50 or 55p0
