on to porridge and banana for breakfast. removes 5 days worth of bread.
You need to think less in the direction of grains (and things made of grains, like bread, cereal, porridge) and fruit like bananas... And more in the direction of proteins like eggs, or things like unsweetened natural yoghurt.

I posted this a few weeks ago, it's a really easy visual guide to different foods/food groups so you can see how different foods compare
    https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/visual-guides

The numbers are the grams of digestible carbohydrates, or net carbs, per 100 grams (net carbs = total carbs minus fibre) and are coded green (low) amber (medium) and red (high) for further clarity

For example, if you look at fruit, you'll see that banana is 20 vs Raspberries 5 and strawberries 6. Plain Greek yogurt is 3

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

    Very interesting, thanks!
That's annoying about cashews being higher-carb than other nuts, as they're one of the cheapest non-peanut nuts.

Full fat greek (or greek style) yoghurt is surprisingly filling, a small pot with a few berries (I buy frozen ones, and defrost a few in the fridge overnight) does me from about 6am to midday.

Low fat yoghurt isn't filling at all.

Try it, you might be surprised.

Shreddies has added sugar, porridge though you're sweetening yourself...

Portion size is also important, if you weigh out the recommended serving of shreddies or other cereals, it's surprisingly small.

Ok, what about eggs, they're also filling.

The truth unfortunately is that if you're pre diabetic you should probably avoid cereals where possible - but I sense that's a big change for you OP.

Also seeds like flax / chia / hemp in full fat high protein yoghurt (with fruit) can help - extra protein, extra fibre, extra various other nutrition.
Not moneysaving though alas; and I would assume that's one reason cereals are as popular as they are, relatively cheap as well as convenient.
