Sainsbury's low sugar granola has about the same carbs as porridge - oats not wheat, no added sugar so it's ~3g sugar per 100g,
Less than 3g of actual SUGAR but 58g per 100g of carbohydrate. Clever marketing, read the label, Not low carb AT ALL

(It's not as money-saving as porridge though.  The granola used to be relatively cheap and now it's not.)
So the carb content is almost the same and the fibre is exactly the same. But the porridge oats are much cheaper.
Yes, both of which I acknowledged in my comment?

I mentioned the granola because the OP said about having porridge, and if they specifically want a cereal-type product it could be useful to know this type does exist, not just sugary wheat-based cereals.

I didn't say it was low-carb, I said it had about the same carbs as porridge which the OP appeared to have already decided on as an option.

Of course - but I think the comments here are trying to explain to the OP that none of the breakfast options they have in mind are actually low carb at all

Yes you did say that. But I have come across people who think that only sugar in a product matters to diabetics. I was making the point that all carbs need to considered for (pre-) diabetics. That was not entirely clear from your post.

It might be worth your while to watch the Glucose Goddess programmes (2) which aired on channel 4.
She showed the influence on the body of blood sugar spikes- and how to avoid them.

One of the folk she helped had just been diagnosed as Type 2 diabetic but after she followed the'10 hacks' for 6 weeks she was pre diabetic.

Some of the hacks were: eat a savoury breakfast, eat savoury snacks not sweet, eat veggies first in your main meal (lines the stomach so sugars harder to digest)

    Certainly worth a watch
