Why ? They are getting paid to do the job

Make them a brew and bickies, possibly a box of choccies - but tipping money - no

Tipping culture is getting a bit silly - let’s not end up like the yanks

I was far too bemused what with the buyer hovering, my seller disappearing and as said, they had completely the wrong idea about how much was to go despite a thorough walk through with the boss.
I took them down a lot of nice choc etc biscuits as well as having tea, coffee and biscuits provided all day.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

We gave ours ‘Maccies Money’ at the end of an excellent job they did - they took initiative and didn’t break a thing. It came to a tenner each (there were 3 of them & this was 6 years ago)

I completely agree, pay them what you agreed, if they wanted more they should have asked for it to begin with. Do you tip every single employee you come into contact with? If not why treat these people differently?

£100 - 20 years ago.  But that was for 5 employed removal men working for two days on a big move, and they were well worth it for the excellent job they did.

Because they work really hard.  The people doing the actual moving didn’t do the quote and don’t get all that you pay, obviously.  Tipping removal people has been a thing for lot of years. I remember my grandparents doing it.  Also if a job runs over it can affect them for the next day.  We had a moving day that overran because the banks had technical problems, so delayed completion.  One of the guys was meant to drive the next day, but had gone over his hours so wouldn’t be able to.  Therefore he would earn less next day.  Not his fault.  I pay for good service and know the people doing the moving don’t get big money.  I appreciate how hard they work and how long their day is.  And yes I do tip people that do a good job.

It’s physically hard, back-braking work that doesn’t pay well. I’ve always tipped removal men and I’m happy to do so.

I'm with Mr. Pink on this. Im happy to pay for a good job and I'll always honour what I agreed but I never tip anyone. I pay the employer to provide a service and it's the employers responsibility to look after their employees not mine. Why dont the removal men give you a tip as a thank you for giving them some work?

She was unlucky. My wife was a nurse, and she and her colleagues were swamped with chocolates and other gifts. She knew every single chocolate in every single assortment box in every single detail.
