Simple Delivery opt out?

I was under the impression with the new system of "simple delivery" that we could opt out!
I have just looked in my account to find you can only opt out of either RM or Evri but not both.
I like to book and see to my own postage independently not through ebay. Does this mean I can't do that now and I have to use ebays "simple delivery?

I haven't been pushed into using it yet, but on other sites sellers are saying you can totally opt out but you need to check the boxes carefully on the listing page as the opt out option is a little hidden away.
On a slightly related note, I did wonder if the Inpost withdrawal for support of Evri parcels had anything to do with this possible influx of Evri parcels about to hit the couriers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have not listed anything recently but decided to look into my account because of all the talk and saw it in there.
I have a couple of items that have been on there for a while and I stated my own postage (RM) and that has not altered.
So, it sounds like it is just a case of being aware when making a new listing that you tick the right boxes.0 -
Something has changed drastically re delivery the last few days but i don't think it is simple delivery.
I have been selling things on a private account for years so know the ropes but have had messages from 3 different overseas users in the last week that they can't buy my items through the global shipping programme.Domestic sales are fine , three sales yesterday.
When listing new items there is now no option for the global shipping programme and the domestic posting seems to be fixed at Royal Mail 2nd class parcel.I can't change it to other RM services
The messages from overseas customers who can't buy are on older items though, which according to the listing are in the global shipping programme. It is all confusing0 -

I listed a small item, large letter and opted for the usual LL RM 2nd class option with GSP enabled, however I could change that to courier option and with no GSP.
Re the overseas customers who can't buy, it may be that ebay have temporarily disabled certain countries. I have a buyer that has bought a couple of things from me over the past months, they are in Italy. It is always hit and miss whether they can buy as soon as I list something, or if they have to wait for Italy to be unblocked again by ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Depending on your view of ebay, look to see if you can change anything going through 'business policies' (I'm doing this on my private account BTW, but it still calls them business policies)
Manage your business policies > postage>actions> edit. I can still then change existing policies (that's how I change in bulk when the postage goes up).
Or to add a new policy I can still do as above but use 'create poilcy' from the top right of the screen.

Apologies for lots of posts, but I am tinkering around with it.
I've gone onto my secondary private account and that has changed, I can still create a policy, but it automatically comes up with the simple postage where I just choose 'small/medium/large' now I have to look to open a box by a cross (not obviously clickable!) which says 'add primary service'. That allows me to use my own postage.
I can still opt in or out of GSP using the toggle switch on the policy as usual.
Under primary services there still lists of things I can use, RM seems to be given priority but I can opt for DPD, Yodel or use the 'other courier' option to add my own.

Just checked mine, pulled up a draft listing and got 'simple delivery is recommended' underneath in small type 'decline simple delivery'. Clicking this gives an 'are you sure you want to?' style message then the custom postage options appear.0

My new draft listing is similar to the one you describe. There is now the option to opt in to the GSP but when I do this and list the item, the listing is saying "Posts to United Kingdom" with no mention of other countries.Another thing is there is an option to add collection in person which i don't want so don't highlight and yet the new listings are showing collection in person as a choice for the buyer.0 -
I've not used ebay for a few months but have just listed a load of old stuff this week, as I was doing it I noticed a new section towards the bottom of the listing page about simple delivery, it's awkward, the link that is supposed to explain what this is and how it works does not even work so I'm still in the dark, and when trying to disable it it flags up a page trying to get you to still use simple delivery but if you select "custom postage" on each listing as you are creating it, it should stop simple delivery and just default to whatever method you select. you can still select a method of how you would lie to post it, but then it you have simple delivery enabled it says that "simple delivery will override your method of postage"
It annoys me that theres no way to globally opt out, and you have to check each listing manually to make sure, I thought I did but must have missed one and a buyer has bought and paid for one already and I've got a label to send the item but as I didn't really pay much attention to the box about the weights and dimensions of the parcel, I now have a label for a 2kg RM medium parcel but the item is just over 2kg.
what do I do now? I messaged the buyer they are happy to pay more for postage but i've got no idea how to sort it out.0 -
