Simple Delivery opt out?
Comments

The postal charges made by E Bay are far from transparent.
I had a small package that, if I'd chosen EVRI directly, would have cost £3.29- 400 gm weight.
It's most unsatisfactory that E Bay are not transparent with pricing before you click & order a label.
Clicking it, it showed I was to be charged for an EVRI parcel up to 15kg, which clearly my item wasn't.
Price not revealed on page or label itself.

Only by delving into my Account could I see that I'd been charged an outrageous £7.19; beware of this scam.1 -

I just came off support with ebay, having discussed 2 issues: 1/ my default handling time of 5 days has disappeared and 2/ I cannot opt out of Simple Delivery by default. While waiting for the agent to reply I googled and got information from the ebay site itself saying "Starting from 15 April, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing eligible items. The option to opt out will only be available for items under £10 and weighing 100g or under. We'll be introducing this change in phases over the coming weeks". That sucks! Buyers are already being overcharged with the new so-called "Buyer Protection" and now they will be forced to pay excessive postage charges rather than the genuine postage cost I would apply to each listing (since I find the Simple Delivery cost is always excessive). I have already had to start to making my listings cheaper to compensate for all these charges being layered on top by ebay. I appreciate that i no longer pay charges as a seller but if I have to knock a few quid off everything that works out more than the amount I'd pay in charges. And the support agent told me that 3 days is the maximum allowable handling time with Simple Delivery! I can't always do that and I don't feel it's up to ebay to dictate it either. Surely it's for me to decide what I can do and the buyer to decide if they are happy with that. I made my dissatisfaction clear to the agent and all I can suggest is that others do the same as like the song says: "If you tolerate this, then your children will be next".
It's their platform.
FTR, I'm not happy about it either and have said so in a thread I started.
I'm particularly hacked off that there seems to be only a choice of RM or Evri so far under 'simple delivery'.
IMHO, eBay should have sorted out postage with Yodel and Inpost before introducing this change.
But we are where we are.
You can continue selling on eBay under their rules or find a different platform.
Have you considered Vinted?
For ref, I have both a 15 y/o biz and private a/c and prefer to sort/organise my own delivery.
Guessing there's no way of opting out now since it looks like eBay have forced every item on to it (talking about private a/c)? If so, will add my items to Vinted and FBM and close my eBay private a/c.Incidentally if you move to Vinted then this is also the model they use so you wouldn’t be able to sort your own postage out there either.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I see the custom postage part for a dummy eBay listing but what I take issue with is if I wanted to send an item using any other carrier there's no where to add the info to eBay (once sold) when there was before.
For instance, you have your tracking number, receipt etc but cannot prove you've actually sent the item, whether it's RM or say DPD or UPS. Today for instance Evri was the only option I was given, not even RM.
Following on from that, I then wonder if buyer claims INR as I've decided against using Evri so sent via RM, DPD etc which wasn't an option for the SD?0 -

In the main seller hub you can switch off either RM or Evri, but not both, and that applies to all your listings.
Under SD ebay take all the risks once you have confirmation that parcel is with the courier, you don't need to worry about INRs or damages (apparently).
If you choose not to use the SD label then you will pay out of your own pocket for the label which you will not get reimbursed, nor can you add any tracking nor will you be protected against any INR.
As above though, there are apparently exemptions which appear to be (as yet unconfirmed) LLs under £10 and overweight parcels.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yay, some clarification at last about exemptions plus ebay have moved the goalpost about the dates for moving everyone to SD:
From 15 April, we’ll gradually introduce Simple Delivery as the only delivery method available for private sellers who list eligible items on eBay.co.uk. The option to opt out is only available for letter-sized items in specific categories that are priced £10 and under. Please see our Seller Centre page and the Opting out section below for more information.
