Thanks pip.
I've often been reasonably ok with bdgeting, but lately it's just been not.
I'm hoping that it's enough of a surprise to help me do what I need to do.Decluttering campaign 2023

719/550 for March 😨🥴 no takeaways tho and the last £150 I could of held out but been scraping around for this upcoming week. I’m going to stick to 550 for April but with two weeks of DS’s off school it’s going to be *very* tough.Emergency Fund: 1000/2000August Grocery Challenge: 97/550

Using the cheap electric time made porridge with apple as well as butternut and bean curry which are already done.
We are still in cheap time. Shepherdless pie mix is going in the slowcooker and will be on until cheap time ends. We are doing roast potatoes and vegetables in the oven right now also. OH is doing a beef joint and what isn't cut for his dinner today will be cut up for his work sandwiches. I'm doing vegan sausages as my main for the roast; I've done 6 and plan to have 2 today. Not very usual to have sausages for roast but it's using what I have in.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy8 -
I spent 29p yesterday in Sainsbury's on a pack of reduced Warburtons pitta pockets.
I separated them and put them in the freeze.
The freezer is pretty much full again.
I've mostly ratatouille, so can adapt it to make other things.
I'm aiming to save some of the food budget to stock up on a few bits through an online delivery.Decluttering campaign 2023

@Pennypincin - there's no need to separate the pitta pockets when you freeze them, they separate easily when you want them. I do that with the soft pittas which DH and I use.7

Suffolk_lass said:Ah thanks @PipneyJane, I did watch a couple of those. She's the French Biochemist with ten principles. It's not sugar that is the issue here, it is the amount of fat he was eating (late at night, systematic snacking). Unless I am missing the point you are making?
I understand the need to smooth the energy spikes, having studied nutrition as part of my degree, way back when. Her ten hacks were all old medicine principles. Just updated and marketed for today's audience.
I shared the recipe for my fat free yoghurt dips previously but I have found cornichons are great as a "dipping" snack - they crunch and taste salty so hit the spot for me. I buy them in jars from Lidl and they're good value for money.
I also use fat free yoghurt as a mayo and add ketchup and paprika to make a Marie Rose sauce - I have prawns with lettuce leaves, cucumber and a couple of cherry tomatoes - sprinkle on top with lemon juice and I have a deconstructed prawn cocktail
I hope your husband is adjusting to his new way of eating! I am permanently hungry and have to work really hard not to just grab a carb (toast, crumpet etc) and make sure I have healthy stuff easily available for me.
Good luck,
((WM))7 -
Finally made it down to L!dls & spent £85.21, which leaves me £67.11 to last until payday next Monday. Theoretically perfectly do-able! But I may struggle a bit as DS3 will be home tomorrow... that said, stocks are reasonably high & he's quite capable of feeding himself if what we're having doesn't meet with his approval.Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6
