Morning y’all. I have two spends to declare. £2.79 for a 400g bag of white miso in an East Asian store in Glasgow on Wednesday. Compared to buying a small jar in Tesco, it was 50% cheaper per /kg. I’m going to make a miso ginger and lime whole roasted chicken for our Sunday lunch we’re hosting for a friend. Scroll to the bottom of this page to find the recipe: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/sep/25/autumn-main-course-recipes-yotam-ottolenghi-squash-chicken-fish-prawns-duck-beef-pasta. It’s really easy to make with a great pay off.
Yesterday evening Mr. Jings spent £17.59 in M & S. I only asked him to get butter, bananas and clementines but he also bought apples, a Goan beef curry, and a side of black dahl for our dinner.
£330.84 / £350 spent. £19.16 total remaining.
I’ve put in a Tesco delivery order for tomorrow evening which comes to about £80. I think I’ll split it between the remaining March balance and the incoming April GC. I’m still not sure what I should set as my April GC goal. We have friends visiting from Brooklyn in April so there will be a lot of entertaining and eating out. They’re staying at a VRBO a couple streets down from us, but still. I’m going to create a delicious welcome basket for them as it’s their first time in Scotland ever. We’ll be doing some cooking projects together too. 🙂

Have a big Tesco delivery tomorrow morning which will be added to April's budget. So I'm calling March closed with £6.75 still to go.
Thank you for your good wishes re my husband's new knee op. Sadly though the op's been cancelled as his blood platelet count is low. A blood test is set for two weeks, so we're hoping the count will be acceptable then. We know what the problem is, he's on immunotherapy which is causing the problem. Immunotherapy has been suspended for a while until we get this this op over. I can't feed him up with foods high in iron as he's got too much iron in his body already due to having haemochromatosis. Hey Ho!
See all you good budgeteers over in April!5 -
I spent £34.28 today on some veg, packed lunch bits, cheese and a bottle of champagne as DH has found out he's been given a new job title with an associated pay rise so we'll celebrate at the weekend.
£186.85/£200 for the month. Hopefully that's it now as we shouldn't need anything else over the next few days.6 -
Shopping in Lidl today came to £15, making a total of £62 for the month. I should only need milk and bread before the end of next week which I will sneak into April. Thank you for the humus recipe Pip, (a few pages back, I have just caught up).Grocery challenge 2025: £402/1500 annual budget9

Hi all declaring £526.66/£500 for March. A tiny bit over budget but not bad in the overall scheme of things. Moving over to the April thread on a mission to use up supplies I've had a while.Grocery Challenge 2024
